The staff pick is Kerbal Space Program. They're too busy playing it to post about it.
With Kerbal being an indie space game -
Indie sale?
Space themed games?

But those themes have been done recently in either the Weekend or the Staff Picks.
Maybe, Management games?
Weird avatars with big mouths? ;)

mobutu: They're probably too busy brainstorming something cool in order to attract moar potential customers here after the paid mods fiasco that just happened over there at the competition ...
Man... all that "pay-for-mods" stupidity was the best endorsement that Valve could ever give to GOG.
They're really probably thinking on how to capitalize on the scandal.
I expect something like "Good news : Now, on GOG too you can buy excellent mods for your favorite games !"

That would be fantastic.

It really does surprise me how many people are coming here from Steam now. People are even canceling their pre-orders for Witcher 3 over there and re-pre-ordering it here. All because of paid mods..

Yeah, the "all because of paid mods" thing baffles me a bit. I understand the issues attached to that, but, still, I see it as a very secondary steam issue, compared to drm and social integration and demi-games and all that.

I suppose it was just the straw that broke the camels back, as they say.

I haven't paid much attention but financially incentiveising talented people to give up their free time to create new content and make a bit of money from their hobby doesn't sound like THAT much of a bad thing - it's like an angry mod back-lashing against Etsy or something!
Or an I missing something?

A lot of these people may have had issues with some of Steams previous service changes and this one just helped push them cross the line to try something else or feel that they want out before something even worse comes along.

The way things are going (not only in Steam but also throughout the world) I wouldn't be surprised if Valve decided to force a subscription fee.

"You want to play all the games you'be bought so far? - OK, then give us 5$ per month".
