... No Pineapple Left Behind mocks the United States' No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, which further tied schools' funding to standardized testing results, by making students your biggest problem.

The premise is that an evil wizard turns all the school kids into pineapples, who are so much easier to manage than children, so your goal as the school principal is to keep it that way.
via Motherboard

Description from the Dev's page

In No Pineapple Left Behind, an evil wizard shows up to a school and turns all of the children into pineapples. Pineapples are very simple. All they do is take tests and get grades. If they get good grades, the school makes more money. But, if left unattended, pineapples can turn back into children. (Oh no!) Children are far more complex and expensive than pineapples. You are the principal. Your job is to run the school.

Cool concept, and unique gameplay for sure.

And people say our governments are not run by corporations.
i know a certain fruit who would like to play that game im sure
I don't understand the title, "prequel to Prison Architect", beside both being a management game why mention PA?

its a satirical take of that game
so the prequel is just a joke not meant to be taken seriously

it was a portentous quote taken from the linked article :]
I'd laugh but the truth is far from a laughing matter. Fucking Dubya :-(
I should have clicked on the first link because my train of thought was:

"Why are the developers of PA making another game when PA is still on EA?" - nope, different devs.

"Same engine perhaps?" - nope, doesn't even look similar.

"Some devs left to make another team and this is their new project?" - can't find anything about it.

Meh, guess they want to ride on PA sucess since it's the same genre...

not so much a cribbing of success

but rather

another chapter in;

Exploitation: Legacy of the American Oligarchy

or at the very least; a speed bump for the socially conscious

ahhhaahhhhhh

would you like to add;

"neglected and crumbling infrastructure"

to the list of topics on hand for discussion?

because, it's a very real thing here.
excuse me for bumping this old topic, but i just saw this game in the upcoming so i checked youtube
i had a funny feeling by the name of the game it would be a weird game, that would attrack many users mainly because of its weirdness.

i saw the vids and omg, cause that was my first thought, this cant be really called any serious game or old school game, the engine is weird, i see loads of engines like these with weird zooming and vector like objects, is there a name for this kind of games? is there a name for the vector like 'graphics' they use, cause it looks like a drawing in Adobe Illustrator.
Sofar this game is the weirdest game i have seen, when i saw the videos i really thought wt? ....

Steam has loads and loads of games like these (shower with my dad is also a crap game ) and i been playing games for 40 years now so i do know what good games look like, played thousands of games and even betatested casualgames for 2 years (long time ago) but this game cant be compared to real games as we know them( real games like: baldurs gate, jagged alliance, fallout, or fpp like the witcher, call of duty and many more)

This game will never be on my shelves or any game or anything that looks like this, cause i cant place this game in any game category, and i dont see the fun or use of it :D
Even if i had no (game)motionsicknes / photosensitivy i'd still not buy it cause its just to weird...

Some might argue, that with the state and structure of public education in the US being what it is (especially in areas where students are of poor socioeconomic status), the school system actually sets up underprivileged students, special needs students and minorities up for prison.

In fact, given that the person behind this game was a burned-out teacher (who worked with special needs kids and butted heads with admin), I'm willing to bet that by making a tie between Prison Architect and this game he's referencing the phenomenon in the US known as the -[url=http://www.tolerance.org/magazine/number-43-spring-2013/school-to-prison]to- [url=http://neatoday.org/2015/01/05/school-prison-pipeline-time-shut/]Pipeline.

I'd like to think so, but the danger in making satirical games -- or at least, games that have a clear social or political message -- is that the gameplay medium itself is sacrificed for the message. In other words, the message may be sound, but the gameplay and presentation end up being terrible.

Oh yeah, and this talk about the American Oligarchy reminded me of how in the US, corporations can actually own charter schools. Because having your kids taught by a school beholden to a corporation is always a good idea...

gamesfreak64 probably bumped it because this game will be coming out on Steam on the 19th.
