I was reading this on the Galaxy beta page to determine if this is something I wish to do, and saw this:

"Want to backup your purchases? We get it. For all games, you can download a DRM-free backup installer that you can save to an external disk, drive or cloud."

Does this mean the entire game is no longer downloaded? Just a file or two that goes to GOG servers to get the rest as needed? Or am I so far off, that GOG's Galaxy is in a different galaxy than me right now? :)
No, it's the same old installer GOG has always made available for download. Galaxy can be used to automatically install and manage your games, but if you want to continue doing things the "old way", you can.

This just means that galaxy will also let you donwload standalone installers like we now do in the browser of with the downloader.
GOG realised that people spend more time organising their downloads than they do playing them so decided, for your convenience, to do away with the whole gameplay side of things entirely and just focus on organising backups. For all we know these files could be renamed back issues of Crossstich Monthly.
Thanks for all the replies!

Hmm... is that the reason GOG messes with our manual order every chance it gets?

You underestimate just how much I overestimate how organised some folks are.

I wasn't, I was referring to a whole different kind of file organization that some folks carry out in their spare time involving spreadsheets and the like :)
