Don't go exploring on foot - your shiny new vehicles await!

No Man's Sky, the open-space exploration game where you adventure across an infinite universe, is getting its second massive chunk of free content, called The Path Finder Update.

Building upon the previous Foundation Update, Path Finder is the largest content pack to date, bringing numerous improvements and additions. Chief among them is, of course, the option to traverse the land on a vehicle that you can summon anytime upon your home planet! But there's a lot of other cool stuff here, namely:

- Planetary Vehicles: Build up to 3 of these aforementioned crafts at your base.
- Vehicle Upgrades: Pimp your ride with extra acceleration, traction, a scanner for points of interest, or deadly weapons.
- Improved Visuals: High-res textures, improved visuals and 4K rendering on supported hardware.
- Permadeath Mode: Challenge yourself to reach the center without dying!
- Exocraft Races: Construct, race and share tracks to test vehicles to their limits.
- Dozens of new upgrades for weapons and tech.

That's not all, though! There are gameplay improvements, rebalanced difficulty, a photo mode to help capture all the surrounding beauty, base improvements, and much more waiting for you inside this Path Finder Update. To find out more, watch the neat trailer below or head over this way.

Oh so close, still more than i'd like to pay, next time then.
high rated
The "Path Finder" update is out now. The "Fun Finder" update, however, is still in the works.

Tikiti: Nothing like exploring on foot for 2 freaking hours just to lose it all because you have to reach the goddamn spaceship to save.

mistermumbles: Actually, since the Foundation update it is possible to build small save points wherever one may be.
Nice! Didn't know about that, thanks.
I'm curious to try this...partly because of it's fame...or infamy more accurately. I have a weakness for maligned games.

I try to avoid complaining about price, but A$37 for it here vs A$21 on PS4...that's a big difference. I assume Sony is subsidizing the price on PS4. I wondering if it's soon to be a PS Plus title actually.

if its $21 new there is a serious problem going on here... pricing is completely backwards then...

kohlrak: Even with this discount, it's hardly worth buying when there are better alternatives like Parkan 1 and 2, which are different than NMS, are much closer to the NMS advertisements than NMS is.
avatar
maz.588: Unfortunately, most alternatives are not available on GOG.

I do agree the base price is far off.
Parkan 1 is on gog, the sequel (an RTS) is on gog, but i forget where i got Parkan 2. Came with a weird license that basically said i was allowed to share it anywhere with anyone or something like that, which is probably why it isn't on GOG. To be fair, from trying it out, Parkan 1 is better, just the graphics aren't as good. I honestly wish Parkan 1 was a DOs game or came out on android so i could take it places with me. Enjoy the light. IIRC, the controls aren't documented fairly well, as is the rest of the game, but if you can't find the docs, post a thread and then PM me (so i know to respond to the thread publically) and i'll see what we can do for you.
Dev still trying to save face? Free shit won't make people forget how disappointing the game ended up being after the hype train.

I feel the same way, but apparently a growing number of others seem to be feeling differently. The monthly ratings for the game are 45% up from 32% overall on Steam. I doubt it can recover itself to high class status by a long shot, but it looks like some folks are feeling differently about it now. Too little too late if you ask me.

Woah, you still hang around here? After this place went to the dogs circa early 2015 I thought all the old 'heads had left:)

Yeah, I don't want to support developers like Hello Games at all.Maybe when the game gets to Humble Bundle I'll keep my key.

I take week/month long vacations due to $lifestuff, but I've been here all along. :) A lot of the old regulars have left though which is kinda shitty as there were a lot of good people. Hopefully things go full circle and they come back some day though. :)

I have a very bad view of NMS after completing it on a friend's machine when it came out. I've got morbid curiousity to try it again sometime when it is like $1 or whatever and patched to death to its final state, just as an observation of video game history more than anything.
If the land vehicle can be built on other planets that will be *really* helpful for survival mode, since One Does Not Simply Take Off To Find Sites.

Also, multiple ships and ship specialization is something I've really been hoping for. And stairs, yay!

Just to clarify, I'm talking about sale price for a digital download version on the PS4 store at the moment, though I've since noticed it as a price for PS Plus subscribers as well- so it's unfair to directly compare to the GOG price.. The price for non non subs is higher. Though, even if you paid for a months PS Plus sub just to buy NMS at A$21, you'd still save $6 over buying it on GOG. Anyway, even non sale prices favor the console with GOG- A$67 and PS4 A$54. Sony are clearly pricing to favor their own platform.

It's not isolated either, The Witcher 3 GOTY is A$39 on Xbox sale and has been recently the same on PS4 sales. On GOG it's on sale for A$47. The days of PC games automatically being cheaper than consoles are gone. It depends on where you are and what currency you're using.
I can't bring myself to be interested. Especially $35+ price even at 40% off.

On the other hand i noticed Ring Runner went from $10 to $5... I'd rather recommend that.
Like some others here, I'm still not ready to buy this because of the price. For me, $36 is a lot unless I'm absolutely certain that I will love the game. However, I am really looking forward to when the price goes down to maybe $20. Each new big update makes the game seem better and better, and I think by the time I finally do buy it I'll end up having a fantastic time.

MischiefMaker: I don't get Hello Games. Why are they adding brand new features nobody asked for instead of the missing features from all the previews (interesting wildlife interactions, massive space battles between rival factions, something worth finding at the center, etc.)

But at least you get to live out your Star Trek: Nemesis fantasies with your very own dune buggy now!
But muh prime directive!
