We’re happy to let you know the multiplayer mode for No Man’s Sky on GOG.COM has entered beta. It’s available now via GOG Galaxy on the „Experimental Multiplayer" beta branch and will be rolling out to everyone soon.

If you’d like to start playing NMS multiplayer in beta right now, first you need to be signed up to beta branches in GOG Galaxy. To do that, once you have the game installed on your machine, and added to Galaxy, select it from the side-bar on the left. Then click on MORE -> Settings, and look for the BETA CHANNELS setting in the top-right corner. To enable beta branches change this setting to ON.
Now, choose the „Experimental Multiplayer” branch from the UPDATES: CHANNEL drop-down list.

Let us know how you like it and enjoy the game!

I am glad to see that this finally made it before the end of the year. I think with this GOG made the best out of a difficult situation. And kudos for those who've been working behind the scenes to make this happen -a work that is not too visible usually goes unrecognized and underappreciated.

I'm curious to know if there is crossplay between GOG and Steam too. I expect not.

Having already been turned into a bitter, cynical internet dweller by Team 17's abject failure to implement promised crossplay for Worms WMD, I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised...

Unfortunately, there is no crossplay feature in NMS.

Great to hear, thanks! (I honestly didn't have much hope for this.)

Is this news not being more widely trumpeted because it's still "experimental"? Otherwise this seems like something that should be on the front page and in the original No Man's Sky Update thread.

(And of course a sale on the game - with a discount comparable to Steam's - would be helpful and imo appropriate.)

Really cutting it down to the wire for getting this update by the end of the year as promised. I'm assuming it was only released as a beta so that the promised time frame could be met.
