zeogold: Well, in comparison.

amok: compared with GamersGate, FireFlower, Itch.io etc.... ?
I meant in comparison with Steam.
I wasn't aware the other ones were included in a lot of bundles.

Itch.io does. I was just making the point that gOg is big now, and doing well. They pull in quite a nice revenue, these days.

They are, just not quite big enough that they can afford to bundle keys. My point is that they'd lose business like that because people who don't really care about supporting the store would instead just go after the cheapest price.

funny thing is, Steam have done it all the time, not just recently. And they grew big while doing it.

As I said,it is just a different philosophy.

Steam didn't have a looming giant over their shoulder while they were growing. They really pioneered the digital distribution platform for PC. They didn't invent it, but they were the only major player in the game forever.

Its not about being big. Its about devaluing the games on here --- ie if gogkeys were all over the place, people would wait for inevitable bundle cheaps for peanuts . GOG would not get a cut from the sale of those keys (as those who pointed out steam doesnt either from bundles -- they merely grow the userbase which seems to be why the proliferation of steam keys left right and centre). At least thats how it seems to me.

I think they fear a similar arrangement with devs to that of Steam will result in bundles that will offer both Steam and GOG keys, with most buyers opted to redeem the game of Steam and trade/give the GOG keys. So most of the keys will arrive to already establish GOG users and so the all point of pulling new customers wouldn't happen.

That and tying the userbase to it. The more games they have on there, the less likely they'll be to switch to a competitor.
Went to Bundlestars to check it out, and for no apparent reason all of a sudden all of their prices are in British pounds instead of the almighty dollar as normal. I have not changed any settings on the site nor can I even find any way there to go about changing currency settings. Looks like they have a case of the GOGwebsititis blues. Ah well, keeps my wallet safe for now anyway.
Sort of off-topic here, but since we're talking about sales...where is this weekend's promo? I mean, I get that GOG just did a big "Back to School" sale, but they never said anything about canceling this weekend one...very uncharacteristic of them. And they still did the normal Staff Picks weekly sale, so I'm confused.

It should be here in about 10 minutes.

EDIT: Or maybe I'm just crazy and this is when it always shows up...lol

All I know is I've shopped at Bundlestars for 3+ years now and while I've never seen British pounds on advertised prices ever, they are always shown in the dollar. I don't remember if it is USD or CAD, but it was always the dollar, and all of my previous purchases also show in dollars. The entire website is in pounds now however. Maybe they are losing money on currency conversion due to Brexit or something.

Dunno, but ever since GOG and other stores started supporting CAD, I will only buy games from places that sell in CAD or USD where the price is rocking my socks off. Don't want to deal with other currencies at all and the myriad of potential surprises, not to mention having to go and manually convert it myself online to figure out what I'm actually paying.

I love Bundlestars, but not enough to take on the hassle of a foreign currency (USD excepted).
