as some/most of you know (or should, being savvy gamers) sony in their infinite wisdom decided that "going forward" their pc releases will be bound to their own PSN account system. even for single player titles.

on steam we now have:
store .steampowered. com/app/2322010/God_of_War_Ragnark/

"PlayStation Network Account required, subject to the PlayStation Terms of Services and User Agreement playstationnetwork. com/terms-of-service"

this change is not new, but helldrivers 2 would not ever come to gog even without it. it's an mmo/server game. a time bomb that one day WILL not be playable.

anyway, so yeah, already kinda known, but now basically fully confirmed - all sony pc games will be tied to their psn service. psn is not available in many countries as is, so even on steam many people can not even buy it.

tldr; sure, it is technically possible (of course) but extremely very unlikely that we will see any future (new releases) major sony games here on gog. so yeah, stop hoping you foolish plebs and rage.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!!

This would only change if the backlash is bigger than the hype for their 'exclusives' being on PC now.

Well. We have our answer knowing the gaming community.

People will keep buying their games anyway and forget the Helldivers 2 drama in a week after Ragnarok is launched in Steam, they will automatically create their PSN account and forget about it because "Sony exclusives are on PC now!".

If they don't care about Steam DRM, would they care about PSN? I doubt it...
Will wait though.

Less spyware in GOG games is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Sony's games that are already existing on GOG never should have passed GOG curation in the first place since they all contain spyware.

What's the point of insisting on DRM-free if that doesn't also come with a Spyware-free guarantee too? To do one without the other makes zero sense.
Unfortunate news. I wonder if their current catalogue here will be at risk of delistings anytime soon.
Maaaaaan, what a downer...
Horizon Forbidden West does not need a PSN account, yet... we can not find it on GoG so far.

Regarding Ghost of Tsushima: PSN is actually only required for Online functionalities and i think the GoG users could pass on it.

So... not really impossible. The major drawback for not getting releases here is simply the rather low customer base.

Helldiver 2 is a special story because it is a "Online only game". Of course even those stuff is possible but it would require a Galaxy launcher, linked to an account and the possibility to play with GoG users only or by using LAN (which is a thing as good as wiped out in the modern age). But in general this game is against the GoG philosophy "trying to make games last forever" because... as soon as the server is being shut down, the game basically will be "wiped out from the world". So, it simply is not GoG compatible... unless there is Offline-mode and LAN options... all this sort of stuff.

Arrogant bullhonky Sony never leaves, it just goes like the tide. Welcome to high tide arrogance.
Regarding the "forced spyware": Not a usual thing on games, yet basically standard on any Windows system.. and the majority is using it. So the thing is... this matter is a bit more complicated and if people truly want to become a protected fortress of privacy... the BEST thing is to cut your connection, because any other thing is less safe in any case, and the second best thing is to use Linux!

To Sony, it is already a huge step even allowing for DRM free and releasing some big franchises on GoG; at the current time nothing more can be expected. No one knowns the future, it could become better or... worse. I only can say, the current condition is "the maximum possible" when it comes to the gamers freedom of how they want to use it and, again... the step is pretty huge for a company like Sony... known to use a "locked environment" and in general to be in favor of "control".
Yes they will.

I will be purchasing every single SONY published video game on Steam and leave a negative review for needing a PlayStation (PS) account and to be released for sale on gog.com.

Just as I am doing right now for MicroSoft published video games. I am spending a lot of money doing this, but I am at least letting them know about gog.com as much as I can.

People say I am wasting money, but I am at least getting gog.com to be known about more.
One of the stubborn nature i guess.
Just do not forget to use game-keys... else your moneybag will walk all the way up the ladder of hierarchy and never come down again.
Something important to note is that almost every major game from Playstation PC LLC was released DRM-free on Epic, including Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. So, they could actually end up bringing them over to GOG as well (probably depending on how much revenue they expect to make here). However, if things keep going as they are with the PSN account requirements, it's not hard to see this not happening too.

Do not forget, Sony is a small shareholder of EGS... one of the very few because EGS is not "open to public shares".

Steam/Valve and EGS, both are almost entirely privately "owned". GoG... which is part of CDPR on the other hand got public shareholders, which got pros and cons. The cons surerly is, they need to stay in the "green zone", else there will be punishment... although, as long as successful, the chance of becoming more capital is higher.

In general. i think, it is not in Sonys interest of having a "big ruler" even able to rule Sony themself... such as Steam/Valve; because in long term it might hurt Sony. So, Sony is surely interested into "spreading the power" even more, thus actually willing to provide EGS + GoG with games.

Capcom and Ubisoft is a bit different because they do not own a "own huge platform" such as Sony, so they made themself completely reliant on Steam/Valve and they are like their "small brother and sister", they voluntarily accepted it. Those "third party accounts" are actually their very last desperate attempts on "getting a grip" of the continuously externalized power... able to suck away their own power and control.

On the console market,... the only parties actually able to be of importance is Sony and Nintendo... face it or continue playing on PC only.

We would still see Spiderman or others coming to GOG but maybe future games coming to GOG are over.

I do wonder how this will play out though. A ton of butthurt steam users saying they would never buy a PS5 or console for future titles which is what the new Playstation CEO is banking on with their PC strategy. I do think it may be possible to get more conversions than expected since lets face it, GOG and patient gamers are honestly a minority of gamers. If the outrage truly represented the majority, CoD and new EA sports games wouldnt still be the best selling games every year.

Yeah, the game that was criticized for being "like Modern Warfare 2 DLC" is the second best selling game of 2023.
They went pretty fast from no accounts to optional to now required. I don't know if the PC community can do anything about it. Personally it bothers me because it is a pure single player game so if their servers have issues suddenly you cannot play. Also PS have been breached a large amount of times it seems which is insane. It is like you know the moment you register it is very likely your data will get leaked eventually....

Sadly for GOG this means no more new games for now which is really sad. I do hope maybe some of the older titles that are still not here like Spider Man can still make it. We will see I guess...

This is pure speculation, nothing is confirmed and it's entirely possible Sony will get some backlash from this again
