Hi,

I'm talking about games like Galaxy Trucker, Antihero, Through the Ages, Guild of Dungeoneering...

It's VERY hard to search for those kind of games, when they don't have a proper cathegory.
It seems they are grouped together with thousands of regular stragegy/turnbased games, where they totally disappear.
If you don't know the exact title you're looking for, it's almost impossible to find a board game.

Maybe it's because there are so extremely few ones on GOG, but why is it like that?
I mean, we don't have Ticket to Ride or Carcassonne or Talisman or Monopoly/Rento or Pandemic or Splendor or Castles of Mad King Ludwig or Catan or Risk or Battleship, or anything more classic like mancala/backgammon/checkers and so on either...

Any ideas/comments on this?

No, I just noticed that there is one cathegory almost totally missing here, and wondered what the reason might be.
Maybe lack of interrest among GOG-users, or maybe (almost) every developer of board games have something against GOG.
I'm totally new on GOG so I don't know how things work, just something I noticed, and I think it's sad cause board games can be pretty nice :)

Yes, I have great memories of playing board games in large family gatherings.

GOG doesn't share much of their inner workings with us. In that way it's not that different from the other big game stores (and many companies in general).

The current categories are limited and end up feeling bloated. I think in the case of Adventure it's even worse, almost everything with a storyline is thrown there. GOG could benefit from new categories such as Arcade, Platformer, Tactics, Board Game, Stealth, Narrative/Visual Novel, and so on.

I like em(some).....maybe the IP holders aren't on board yet or don't want to sell on GOG for some reason(some sell their own games or use other stores afaik)? Maybe some don't know about Gog or think it'd work out for them?

As others said, heck to see if there are wishlist entries and vote for them, and maybe send GOG a support ticket/email asking them about it(and the devs/rights holders of such games as well), though be prepared to wait a bit as it IS the holiday season. :)

One of my favorites was this game called Pay Day, oddly enough.

Same on Google Play sadly - the only other store I buy games from.
Specially regarding adventure-genre, but also many other cathegories are pretty bad.
So GOG isn't unique in any way :/

Yeah, GOG is lacking in the categories department.
Almost even worse: you won't always find the games you're looking for in the categories available, because someone at GOG's HQ decided to put them in a category, where probably nobody (well, many? Most of us) would put them. Same as above - it's not just the board game adaptions that are hard to find, if you can't remember (even a part of) the name.
Add to that the wrong (or unintuitive?) /missing category search - and bingo! No chance of finding anything.

Since you're new here on GOG, a small piece of advice:

Don't hold your breath while waiting for new/proper categorization to be implemented...you might die that way. ;)
