We’re excited to announce the release of the latest update to GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, introducing a new playable faction — Nilfgaard.

With its control and espionage oriented playstyle, Nilfgaard equips players with gameplay mechanics that allow for revealing cards in the opponent’s hand, controlling the order of cards in player decks, and use of disloyal units, among others.

The update expands the number of cards available in the game by over 60 — new additions also include faction-specific cards for Northern Realms, Scoia'tael, Skellige and Monsters, as well as neutral cards usable by every faction.

See the full list of changes here.

Filippopotame: Be happy man : all cards are about to be reset when the game will go into open beta
great this game is currently crapsauce, will look for the open beta
Just change ur disconect system already, insta forfeit for people on wi-fi in every second game makes this game unplayable n I wish it didnt cuz except that everything is so much fun.
Just to say I'm loving this game.

Can you kindly add a small pause after changing the third card? So the player can see the substitute. Thank you

I don't understand, Why there is a option to buy cards in game? Does this mean they won't reset everything after the beta or what?
I guess I'm the only one who still likes the original Gwent as it is in Witcher 3, even after everything so far?

Not likely, but from what I read, it was far from balanced. Which makes for fun gameplay, but doesn't work in a multiplayer environment.

Probably not, but this version of Gwent is 100% better in every way

ralphunreal: Does anyone know if the game will be free to play when it is out? Also is there an offline component to the game?

Rievier: The multi-player content will be f2p, but the single player campaign will cost something.
When was this said? AFAIK the entire game is F2p

toussaint deck pls!
Perhaps the Witcher 3 gwent is a bit unbalanced, I admit. My fully complete Northern Realms deck could basically trump anything, winning almost every time unless I was unlucky on the draw.

Gwent the game will probably just take some getting used to. It's the same game but looks completely different, that's what is probably bugging me. One thing that I definitely can praise is how it has a whole lot more depth to it :)

Is it an actual CCG, like M:tG by Hasbro TSR Wizards of the Coast? Or just a chess game app with cards? Thanks, Confused Shopper

It's a CCG. I don't play M:tG so not sure how it compares, but it's certainly got all the qualities I would look for in a CCG.
Sweet. Cannot wait to see it. I hope they do some rebalancing of the leader skills. For example, the weather digging skills, should not require digging. If horn, double damage for a row, skill does not require digging up the horn card, nor should the weather skill, row damage penalizer, skill req. digging. I would also, go one step further, by including the discard piles for digger skills.

On the topic of digging cards out of play, into play, there should be an explanation of which skills work, upon entering. That dragon is super powerful, to dig up, and play, because his skill triggers, as opposed to a vampire, or witch, who does not trigger a swarm of, like critters, when entering play, twice.

Also, the Nif leader that negates all leader skills, should be removed or changed. Unique aspect of game, which should not be removed. Its one of the chance effects, by not knowing opponents hand, style, that makes the game so attractive. Null it, and it becomes.. well not attractive.

I would like to see deck size increased, but a hard max of 3 similar cards, with exception for swarmers. They should go to 6, or something. My .02
A proper nilfgard deck is just hell to play against. Either you bring dimeritium or you lose. Their healers are kind of nuts not only are their spy units without a downside but they can easily revive them too.
