paladin181: What if one writes a review as a "non verified owner" then buys the game. Does their review get properly marked?
I hope not.
When they wrote the review they didn't own it, possibly didn't even play it, and it should not change anything if they buy it (or get it for free during some promos) later on.

paladin181: Also, reviews for different editions of the SAME game are not combined, meaning that different editions are STILL separate product codes (stupid) and that important reviews may be missed or buried.
Different editions should have separate reviews.
Nothing annoys me more than the way Amazon keeps mixing reviews. Seeing a review for a DVD version is useless, if I am about to buy a Bluray version. With games the differences are probably a bit less severe, but if they are selling different kind of versions, then reviews should only be visible for each version in their own page.
Am i missing something? The interface is the same for me. ¬¬

Bookwyrm627: I'm not a fan of the new setup. Making everything significantly larger means more work to find the sections I care about (screen shots, description). This looks like it was designed for mobile, but I suspect it is going to load even slower than the previous version on mobile. I haven't actually tried that out yet, though.
I completely agree. I have a 24" 1080p monitor and there is so little information on the screen at once, everything is stretched and empty and I have to scroll 5 times. For a website selling mostly older PC games, one would expect a more PC focused web design, this is obviously made for mobile users who are used to scroll whole day.

Cavalary: Oh, others experiencing this too. Interesting... Can we find some common things between these vanishing reviews? Was it also large? Or submitted recently?
Oh, so it's not the profile thing. It was quite long, yeah, but not submitted recently. Maybe they've implemented a new, shorter character limit and it's automatically blocking anything above that? Either way, I really hope it isn't lost forever and can be brought back.
Why all my reviews are gone? They show up in my news feed, but I cannot find any of them in the the games page.

After being surprised some minutes ago by the new site's layout (the games area) I jumped to the forums in super-quicklike fashion to post and express (in detail) my deeply virulent displeasure with it, just to find that there is already a thread with much commendations for the very things I loathed. (*sigh*)

Being an utmost believer in the democratic way, if most people like it thusly there's nothing I can do but abide galantly and respectfully to this mass derangement.

One thing I would request from GOG though, which I think is not much to ask, for it would not change the core of this new hideously impractical design: Do NOT insist on the silliness of bloody automatic video playback.

Just that.

From all the things I will have to put up with while perusing this current horror, at least, be compassionate enough to NOT keep that.

Same here - no refreshing has brought about this new look yet... but yeah.. seems to pander (from screenshots I've seen) to the mobile crowd...

EDIT - ah right - game pages only at the moment...

Ehhhh...... will reserve judgement - but the auto playing videos HAVE TO GO

DebbieL: I agree, it really should be. Also, what the hell is up with showing number of games owned on the review? Didn't we already go through this when they first brought in profiles? I notice that my review of Helldorado seems to have disappeared from the game page; this had BETTER NOT be because I chose not to make my profile public.
I´d also like an option to hide games owned. That´s not info I want in plain view. However, I don´t think that having your profile set on private is what´s causing the reviews to not show up. My profile is not public either and which of my reviews have disappeared and which ones remained view-able appears to be completely random.

Totally agree. Thornebreaker store page is very bad for this. Even the banner image on the store pages seem to say mobile as it just fades at either side.

Its still better than the older design though, but only slightly.
wow, very nice. so glad you heard our pleas and worked on it. love love love the sorting capability of the reviews, most appreciated. love the layout, only complaints is its pretty large icons and images, takes a while to scroll thru to get to reviews bit, would love a way to toggle them smaller.

regardless, great to see some improvement!

That can´t be what´s causing it, as I have only reviewed games that I own and the reviews still disappeared.
I like the new bigger video play but wheres the volume control I have no sound because I turned it down before the change now I can't see the controls

Yep, I only review owned games too, and none of them are visible.
On the whole, not bad. Considering how much it usually irritates me when something I'm used to changes, I'm pleasantly surprised. Admittedly it makes the interface for the main store search page look even more prehistoric, but I live in hope that one day in the far future that might actually be updated too. Also, I use GOG most of the time on a desktop PC, so I can't speak for how well it works on a phone screen.

The "verified" thing for reviews sounds like a very good change, though I'll reserve final judgement until I've seen how it works in practice. When I'm browsing a game's reviews here on GOG, I want to see what people who own it here on GOG think first and foremost, ahead of the fuzzy childhood memories of people who haven't touched the game since 1996.

The featured game takes up too much space on the screen, but that could be tweaked. The only real complaint is the same as everyone else's: autoplaying video is a horrible idea. I guess I'll just have to block them right in my browser, which is a shame as GOG is whitelisted for everything at the moment and I'd have preferred it to stay that way.
