It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Windows 10 is coming on July 29th and we are as ready as can be!

You have been asking on our forums, and now we are here with the official word! We're getting ready for Windows 10 and putting our QA Team at full capacity to test the games we (and you!) are looking forward to play on the upcoming OS.

Currently, we are very optimistic about July 29th and hope you will make a near-seamless transition to gaming on the newest version of your Windows operating system.

GOG.com has always been about making sure our releases, especially the classics, are tested and playable out of the box on modern computers.

When GOG.com launched in 2008, Windows XP was by far the most popular operating system among gamers. Ever since then we've meticulously tested our entire library to introduce Day 1 compatibility with every new Windows release. We've done it for Windows 7, we've done it for Windows 8 - now we're doing it all again for Windows 10.

So far, things are looking great. We're encountering very few problems and most of those are either resolvable on our end, or likely to get fixed as Windows 10 nears release. In fact, many games that had issues on operating systems newer than Windows XP once again won’t suffer any hiccups on Windows 10. The OS is still a work in progress, so while anything can happen until the release date we're confident for the future. This is the smoothest transition to a brand new system that we've ever worked on.

Some games may need a patch to run perfectly smoothly, but don't worry - they will be available on the site, and if you use GOG Galaxy, your games will be ready to go automatically.

Gilozard: MS has very rarely actually understood what their customers like and use, and the pivot to ignore power users was incredibly irritating.
So true! Win8 has been an absurd middle finger to their past customers.
They seemed more interested in new casual users.

gamesfreak64: FF devs just add a bunch of crap to the browse[..] users are using plugings/addons to undo what firefox did with the poor browser, so generally these devs dont seem to be interested in what we want, but in what they like to add.[..]
I completely agree.
I'm against continuous updates for the sake of changing something.
FF's main goals should be remaining lightweight and more customizable than the other browsers.
Devs should just create addons, if they really want to apply new unrequested features.

Firefox? Remaining lightweight? Firefox has been overweight since back in the olden days.

Maverick89: Will we have a list of Windows 10 games on launch? And his windows 10 good for gaming, do old agmes work well?

Zacron: So far, it seems that more games work nice with Windows 10 than 8/8.1. It seems that they have either brought back full Direct Draw support, or they have created a nice wrapper that emulates it. Either way, I have successfully tested several games that did not work on 8 that work fantastic on 10.
Good news. Let's hope Win10 will be a great OS for games.

Thanks for the reply.
Yup i hate it when these devs want to show their little new toys to us, instead they should be asking what 'toys' we, want, cause if they have no users, they have no community, if we dont choose FF however, there are plenty others that do have what we want.
Chrome is famous for all those toys that I dont want, and IE , well IE is like an old dinosaur that doesn't know it instinct billions of years ago.So thats why i use FF.
Glad to hear that things are going well so far with the new OS.

I'd also like to give another thanks to gOg for doing the work hard to make sure the games function properly on as many OSes as possible, for as many customers as possible. This isn't a trivial undertaking, and I suspect a huge number of us have at least one troublesome game in our library that would otherwise be all-but-unplayable without your efforts.

Thanks again.

TechGuy for 19 years here... I can confidently say we have tested 10 with applications going back to 95 with little issue. The main thing will be for hardware manufactures to take advantage of all the new features Microsoft has enabled. And to release driver packages that work right ;)

I see absolutely no issues with 10 over all. If anything I see 10 as being the most backwards compatible of all windows operating systems to date.

At least they got that and performance right. 10 is one of the ugliest OSes I've ever seen and they seem so deadset in their continuance of that Win 8 bullshit.

Still, I'll be upgrading my 7 key as it's an OEM key and I'm not sure how much longer they're going to let me run it without the laptop I got it with.
As admirable the work is, I wish the same amount was put in to the Linux platform.
I am worried about things like my mouse, keyboard, printer and so forth working if I upgraded.

All my stuff printer ( canon mp250) Keyborad and mouse (CMstorm) and my old Saitek p2500 work fine.
I agree with NodCommander and some others here. The Linux migration (native or wine) might be more important in the near future. Not only due to the fact that Valve and co are pushing the steam mashines but also because of the steady user migration to free OSes.
Microsoft Windows is currently one of the most used OS for Gamers because of the integration that is done. But that doesn't necessarily be an argument to continuosly force the integration as there are other forms of remaining compatibility - just like noone minds running dos and early windows games on any os.
Thank you GOG, well heard news.
good to hear and hope galaxy will also be in alpha mode sometime before the year ends
Just make sure everything still works on Win7 pls :)
Time sure has whizzed by! It almost feels like yesterday, when I've gotten a good hang on Windows 8, thanks to training from using a vista system, and we are now moving right into Windows 10.
