I'm really looking forward to this. It looks like they won't touch the gameplay, which is something I'm okay with. Although I hope we get better re-spec options. It's going to be released on PC and consoles, with cross-platform play. I'll probably stick to single player, as I'm not keen on people stealing my loot.
Thank god they won't make us stay online to play this remaster. Apparently, it needs to be online one time for activation and that's it.
16GB RAM.

To run a game that came out in 2000.

What da faq, Blizzard???

I highly doubt that. 99% chance they will censor all kinds of things in accordance with their extreme SJW sensibilities, just like they have been doing with their other recent "remasters."

After Blizzard forcefully bundled Battle.net with the older version of Starcraft and butchered the everloving hell out of Warcraft 3, I'm happy that I backed up the original version of Diablo II.

Still one time too many if you ask me.

I'll wait for it to come here DRM-free. If not, I don't want it.

This would be one of the games I'm willing to break my boycott for, too, but that's another topic.

Nah, I'm good.
Even more so since this will very likely come with the always-online bullshit (even for the singleplayer portion) Blizzard has this huge hard-on for.

If they plan to replace the OG Diablo II + LoD with this (like they did with Warcraft III: Reforged replacing original Warcraft III) - could be a good opportunity for GoG to again ask and offer to sell (and thus also preserve) the Legacy version for them.

I wonder if this means GoG will be getting the original D2+LoD at some point?

Unfortunately this remaster will probably make the release of the original game on GOG even more improbable.

Not according what Max Schaefer said on the subject:
The game was made to be shocking and push boundaries and when you have an opportunity to remake it with modern graphics, you're going to be confronted very quickly with how much are you really going to want to reproduce something that was down to a few pixels in the original version, and not succumb to the temptation to make a censored version.

dr.schliemann:
The very next paragraph, also Max Schaefer:
"We're talking about modern Blizzard right now, and they have shareholders and things like that, that we didn't have to worry about back in the day," Schaefer laughed before continuing, "I'm curious as to what their approach is gonna be."

Oh yeah, after Reforged I really want another remaster from them.

Anyway, I know I'm in a minority but I nver really liked Diablo 2 that much. I never even finished it. 1 was great and still holds up for me, but 2 always bored me before I could end the third act.
I'm not really sure if it will work for me.
As nostalgia trip... sure but not at that price...
As an online H&S, there are better options out there.

But I'm sure they will make a lot of money from it. :)

You are right: Schaefer's laugh might be an hysterical one.
However I hope that the company will consider and keep in mind his advice about censorship.
