So after this delay, will we get the game on anywhere DRM-free? For its all that matters. You see, nothing is worth a delay if it doesn't mean a DRM-free release.

And network issues isn't a nice thing to read about.
Eh, I never gave a crap about this title to begin with. In the beginning I was intrigued and everything, then the screenshots came out and really didn't look that much like the concepts, followed by the community kerfluffle, in which a LOT of backers got treated extremely rudely, etc.

Color me shocked that there's more issues with it. </sarcasm>

I know for a fact there is a DRM-free release offered to Kickstarter Backers through Humble Bundle. I wouldn't have supported this project otherwise.

However, there really hasn't been any sort of news regarding a more widespread DRM-free release outside of Kickstarter. Given the emphasis on the multiplayer component, it wouldn't surprise me if Comcept actually went back on their word and sought to limit all future copies of the game to Steam (especially since Humble deals in Steam keys). Regardless, I'm not particularly optimistic that there will be GOG release.

So its a bit of a risk to invest in a DRM-free Mighty No. 9, given what we have of information. We'll wait and see, hopefully things turn out well and we end up with a DRM-free release on Humble Bundle if not on GOG.

At least you're bound to find better loot than any cave in Skyrim.

In terms of a DRM-free release it could really go either way. As I said before, Comcept did promise a DRM-free version on their main Kickstarter page (it's literally smack dab in the middle of the description), but as time passes it seems more and more unlikely since they partnered with Deep Silver as an official publisher. In fact, the Mighty No. 9 page on the Humble Store doesn't even mention anything about a DRM-free release anymore.

I guess the Steam release could be devoid of DRM, but somehow I doubt that will happen... Online multiplayer and leaderboards are always crippled with added security measures. I think the most that we can do is hope that the GOG community wishlist somehow gets enough votes to garner attention from the folks at Comcept.
Was Pillars of Eternity delayed more than once? I don't remember, but I don't think it went through the same drama as this.

I think this game is a victim of hype. The fans want a release date so they give them one, and probably mean it, then reality sets in and they have to delay it, rinse and repeat. They could avoid the headache by just refusing to announce any release window until they could be certain they'd deliver it.

Oh boy, let me recount some of it:

-Kickstarter massively overfunded for a total of 4 mil, yet core gameplay (not funding tier rewards) features got cut due to "tight budget"
- Original release date was september 2015
- Gameplay demo was released for E3 or something and it was generally agreed to be pretty bad
- Animated series announced
- Live action movie announced
- The shitstorm involving the community manager
- Comcept launches a second kickstarter for a game called Red Ash barely reaches half of the 800k goal, but gets the rest funded by a chinese company called Fuze misteriously.

That's the gist of it I think. I really doubt anyone's hyped for this anymore, bystanders just want to see blood at this point.

Why can't you contact your bank and have them reverse/cancel? Has contact simply not worked?
my interest in this faded as soon as they released the megaman legacy collection on steam , now if we get that on gog as well other people will probably loose interest in this as well.
After waiting for Age of Decadence since 2011, i haven't bothered to check those arbitrary release dates anymore, when it's released it's released, no point in drooling for a certain date the devs have put on their homepage. Sometimes there are some stupid bugs that need to be squashed, sometimes the bugfix fucks up something else and so on :)
