reaver894: Have to say im a little worried.

Not about the game but more about the donations page.

I initially backed with 25$ a few months ago and 2 weeks ago donated another 30$ through the ranger center but the donation is not showing on my account there, it should show after 1 week, but 2 and still nothing is a little worrying.

I suppose i should also contact inxile and ask them if they can shed some light on this.

cw8: Takes awhile. They update manually on Mondays and it's normally only done by one person and he's one of the game programmers so he's extremely busy. Maybe drop Brother None a shoutout either here or:

i sent a mail in the "contact inxile" part of the ranger center. Its probably nothing but ill wat on them responding to find out whats happening

I think my pledge upgrade took 3 weeks to update. So yeah it's nothing too worrying.
Yup, they are just "swamped" nothing to worry about. Donations havent been synced since the 18th.

How much post-kickstarter have they gotten? I was one of them, and I know a few others, but just wondering if it's enough to be impressive, or just a little extra cash.
I feel a bit underwhelmed by that demo video. It all seems a bit too ... hm ... narrow, linear and simple as a level layout. I don't really get a feeling of a real organically grown location; instead it seems rather gamey and designed around utilising some specific skills for each small little corner. The sniper position that's both unprotected and conveniently right next to the base camp? The goats right next to the mines? The cart that only can be moved if you have a specific skill at a high enough level? The husband that has the medicine appearing around the corner less than a few seconds after you killed his sick wife? I'd had hoped for a bit more subtlety with all that. Not that convinced by the humour of the automated audio recordings, either. I know Wasteland was over the top - but it seems a bit too silly (in a bad way - stupidly so) rather than amusing.

The disco robot is nice, in contrast [except that it drives all the way to the front, rather than staying back!]. Combat seems passable - better than Fallout, not anywhere near JA 2 / TOEE levels though.

This is the only thing that seriously bothered me, tbh. It does indeed feel pretty artificial, although I suppose it's only the kind of thing you'd notice on repeat playthroughs.

I'd really like to see them show off or talk about some of the long-term reactivity. As far as I can recall, the only thing they've given so far is the vendor guy which, while nice I guess, is really pretty minor. I'd like to hear them talk a bit more about reactivity affecting the story and such.

I've been criticizing it, but I'm really looking forward to this. :D
Well, if the man only appears if you kill his wife, that's worrying, but if he appears no matter what you do, it should be okay.
I just realised by watching the video that I’m actually a backer of this project. ^^ And having seen the video now I’m glad that I am. I like what I’ve seen so far albeit I agree that the game felt fairly scripted, especially the husband appearing with the medicine right after his wife got shot or the final battle (the enemies swarming in after the first shots got fired; don’t know if this can be handled differently). What stood out for me was the music and sounds. I think they add a great atmosphere to the game (although I can imagine that the music may get on one’s nerves after a while). I found the radio call especially eerie.

Well, I’m anxious now to see how this project develops. And I think it should be kept in mind that the team only has limited (financial) resources. Against this backdrop the video made a pretty good impression on me.

Yes, that. I want / hope for this to be really good - that is, story and gameplay wise a bit of a stand out - not just because of the particular game, but also given that this, alongside the other four big name Kickstarters. If those turn out to produce something really good and innovative - i.e. different than the usual mass market fare - than it'll do so much good for kickstarter as a funding platform for game development in general. These big name ones have the pulling power to really get massive press coverage. Sadly, as is that level by this brief glance carries a few too many of the inconsistencies in world building / reactivity that I dislike in a lot of mainstream games.
The canyon, narrow-path-leading-to-event design is not a template for Wasteland 2, we have a lot of variety in areas, you'll find more open areas, you'll find underground maze-like structures, you'll find towns/hubs. This area was picked because it was polished and does a good job showing off different skills and quick C&C, in "linearity" it's not perfectly representative of the whole game, which is quite open.

As said, we're just behind. I probably replied to you by now? I tend to be pretty fast on Ranger Center messages. We've recently started shifting some workloads around so the guy who does these imports has a bit more time free, he does a lot of stuff, mainly programming on Wasteland 2.
