To galaxy? Which store? I Don't know of any being forced upon me.
I think he speaks about this: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/409720/view/3372654703623767158

Glad to have Bioshock on gog.
Slow down, breathe. Now, speak a little more slowly...

Having it on GOG is no guarantee not to receive their launcher. Crookz The Big Heist is a good example for this ... A launcher of sorts has been added, demanding an Internet connection to update itself, the game doesn't launch without it and the game itself contains advertisements in the main menu ...

The new Mafia 3 didn't include it, I doubt they will include it in old games, it a signal that GOG reject this kind of DRM in their games.

They should but there is nothing they can do if a publisher or developer decides to patch their game. When I found out last year I contacted support. They told me that I should try a version linked in that email and delete or block the launcher process called "AppData". Crookz stood out because the launcher has been patched in years after release while some Kalypso games were released with launcher. They pateched out the launcher for some games and for others it could be removed.

GOG can't do much and isn't likely to. When a publisher or developer decides to patch their game or add ads and a launcher, that's their right. Many games from different publishers got one, Slitherine and Paradox for instance, and I don't have a problem with their presence since they can be blocked and ignored.

To add one for a single-player game years after it has been released doesn't make sense. Neither should Galaxy users be forced to use an extra launcher in order to start their game.

Yeah, the new 2k launcher is terrible.
It actually ruined XCOM2 for me. The launcher was designed for XCOM2 and was easy to activate mods with.
The new catch-all launcher thing looks terrible. It was hard to hard, ugly to look at, hard to activate mods and even broke some quality of life mods that improved the game.

It was just a downgrade in every way. There was no reason for them to update it.

Eh, a second launcher isn't too out of the ordinary. A lot of games have it and tend to integrate mod support. Thing is though is that those launchers tend to be simple, clear and easy to navigate. 2k's launcher is ugly and hard to use.

No, they are not uncommon. Game launchers can be ignored or bypassed. Creating a shortcut to the .exe or altering an existing one does the trick. I just fail to understand why they and other companies patch one in to old games because there is no benefit for users.
I know it would unnecessarily take up server space for the most part but this is why it would be nice if Gog keep older versions of install files in the downloads folder for games.
