I've noticed a real slow-down of old games being released on GOG. New releases have been totally swamped by much more recent titles, many totally new ones.

I thought GOG was meant to be mainly Good Old Games???

Rant over. Thoughts?

GOG is no longer an acronym. It stopped being an acronym back in 2012.
There's a sticky thread by an insufferable jerk that lists the yearly releases. See this post for latest numbers.
I'll just leave this here:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/this_years_releases_on_gog

Long story short, the rate of old games being released hasn't changed, we just get more new games too.

This is a fairly logical state of affairs, there is after all a limited amount of old games to release and acquiring and fixing them gets more and more difficult, whereas there is a steady stream of new games available with little or no effort on Gog's part.

Edit: And unsurprisingly, ninja'd by JMich himself. I knew I should have just posted the link :P

You mean recent titles like Pizza Tycoon, Ignition, Tachyon, Lost Eden or Imperium Galactica?

I agree with you concerning last year, but for me it seems like GOG's latest releases have been mostly old games.

By this point I'm starting to think that everyone who makes one of those threads should get all old games in their library removed :P Maybe that would make it stop.

Oh wow, this thread again. Guess I'll just make this post again.

oh fuck
I have complete confidence that GOG team is working hard to get us all the good old games and I dont see any harm of them giving us new games. As long as it stays DRM free, I am completely satisfied with the games they deliver. If only they had fixed/changed that review system.
It's deju vu all over again.
After all these recent releases I thought we were safe from this kind of posts for a good while, but I guess I was wrong... :P

There was one of these threads 2 weeks after the LucasArts deluge, so this instance is actually tame.

To the OP : Don't take badly the way people reacted to your post with irritation. It's just that this kind of thread is a sort of tradition here on GOG forums (I'd say we see one every 2 weeks), so the old regulars tend to be a little cranky about it. Nothing personal ^^

Nordic just dropped a couple of big ones!

Both Tachyon and Imperium Galactica (spelling?) are two very well regarded games in their genre.

And keep in mind, we're all getting older, no escaping it. You might not THINK 16 year old games are "old," but 16 years was a while ago in gaming terms ;) In most terms relative to us, actually LOL.
