Racing and sport games are tough problem. First they tend to be seasonal and thus publishers need to get the most money out of them in a couple of months, so they are the most DRM-heavy. Also they have lots of licensed stuff, usually on a limited tern, so after 5-10 years they usually disappear completely from sale.

You should check out Richard Burns Rally. Somewhat hard to find it now since it's an older sim, but it is still the best rally sim. Of course you don't have to stay vanilla; download the RallyeSim mod (http://www.rallyesim.com/accueil/index_en.html) and enjoy much more content! ;)

cal74: Just noticed the Cranks and Goggles (Wishlist entry - Do not forget to vote if interested of just to show the support for more sport games on GOG) is close to being released.
'Voted! GOG definitely needs more racing games!
Guys,i need some answers quick :).Is it possible for Dirt Rally to appear here on GOG,and how long are we gonna have to wait for it to happen. Is one human life enough ? ;).Cheers
Just a heads-up: I sent a message to Play Native, the developer of Cranks & Goggles, to ask if they plan on releasing it on GOG and they replied that "they'd like to be in GOG if they let them in". I guess they already contacted GOG so that means it's GOG's turn to decide if this gets released here.

I'm super excited for it and i wish GOG will release it soon. Please, to anyone interested in Cranks & Goggles, make sure you'll vote for it in the wishlist and maybe leave a comment or two here. Thank you!

May i ask if it's possible to change the title to better reflect the content of this thread? I was thinking of something like "Cranks & Goggles on GOG - Please vote to show your interest" or something like that. I think we (me included) posted too much offtopic info. Thanks!

From what i see, Ignition made quite an entrance with it's recent release so i guess Cranks & Goggles will be equally welcomed by the customer base of GOG.
I miss "Track & Field".

Will (most probably) never happen, if that was the case Codemasters would not have expired the licenses of DiRT 3 and GRID also.

BTW, get your free copy of DiRT: Showdown on Humble, it's likely going to dissappear too.

Edit:

Oh wait, DiRT Rally, well I don't think so, GRID was already a very old game when it was released on GOG a few years ago and Codemasters haven't released any of their newer racinggames since.

I am kind of mad at Codemasters for not releasing at least Dirt 3 here. When they removed GFWL and turned it into the Complete Collection,it sparked some hope in me for it appearing here on GOG.But i guess that won't happen anymore.I was actually thinking about Dirt Rally because the game seams to be complete as far as content goes, and some developer even stated that they are planning a sequel since this game was soo succesfull ;).Would be really awesome to get Dirt Rally here, since a lot of us hadn't had the chance to buy Colin McRae Rally 05 when it was here.... Cheers
Hey folks! Cranks and Goggles dev here :)

First of all, thank you very much for your interest in our game! Your support means a lot to us.
We've submitted C&G to GOG last year when we were still in early access and we've been rejected. We love GOG and we'll try again very soon.
Anyone here play the Midnight Club games?
Some sim racing games have been offered as offline games; for example the SBK superbike games by Milestone, the games by Brazilian developer Reiza Studios (Stock Car Extreme, Formula Truck), and much of Sector3's content can be bought on disc, incluing their old Simbin stuff.

There's also the numerous Richard Burns Rally mods, some of which are superior to Dirt Rally in my opinion.

Bigger games, like Dirt Rally, Codemasters F1, Assetto Corsa, and Project Cars will never appear on GOG. I can't see it.

Yes, it's my favourite in the Dirt series. Dirt Rally is really good as well but lacks the variety of the other Dirt games. On the other hand the physics in Dirt Rally is more challenging ,,, and thus more interesting in some ways. They appeal to two very different types of gamers though, where the Dirt games were aimed at a much broader audience than Dirt Rally is.

Only if Steam would somehow fail and not get bought up by someone else ... then, maybe it might arrive on GOG.

So if you see it for a great price, like now for example in the Humble Winter Sale (€20), I'd say grab it.
Be aware that it's a 30G download if I remember correctly.

Only Midnight Club LA. It was a good open-world game, with street-racing and upgradeable cars.
Not sure what the best comparison is, maybe Burnout Paradise meets The Crew ? It was half sim, half arcade. It had a really nice cockpit view. I also remember you had to follow the speed signs while roaming, because otherwise the police might chase you down. Not the prettiest of cities in a game to drive around in, but it still had an atmosphere to it, that smokey LA haze you always see in movies.

I have #2. I'm trying to figure out why I uninstalled it. :P
