2. Hoping that maybe a few people would show the least bit of moral fibre and stand against a EULA which is clearly not designed to be a fair agreement. (And not just fake moral fibre when something's hitting their pocket book, aka regional pricing.)

Honest question - have you contacted Disney about all the points you're making here? Have you thought of encouraging others to contact Disney? Or do you just want people to not buy any of today's releases?

Not purchasing without conveying the reason, is not really sending a message.

HypersomniacLive: And from everything stated in their ToS that is applicable for purchases from GOG, can you please explain which terms you are worried about?

TheJadedOne: I have not read the entire TOS as I stopped as soon as I saw the part I quoted in my original post. The other party in a contract being able to just change the terms of the agreement with your only choice being "take it or leave it" (or become a "pirate after the fact" by continuing to use the game while no longer having a license to the game) is really not acceptable. You are, legally speaking, back to renting your games, which is the same thing that made me stop buying games with DRM a long time ago.
I agree the change at any time portion is of definite concern and making it unacceptable.

I did read through the whole thing and I personally object to the binding arbitration and class action lawsuit restriction provisions in section 6 as well. They're not as bad as a lot of companies had them written in the past, but they're still unacceptable as they are now. Terms like that are why many EA and Square/Enix games are still unpurchased by me.

I'd encourage you to read through the whole thing, though. If you're going to make noise about unacceptable terms in the EULA, it's good to get all the issues at once instead of stopping at the first one. On the astronomically vanishingly small chance that it were addressed in a positive manner, it'd be a shame if there were still problems on the table due to lack of awareness when others were fixed.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Can't wait to get my hands on Full Throttle and Grim Fandango!
Thank you everyone involved.
:D

GG GOG! (and Disney!)

Thank you!
I still can't decide what to buy...
EA just announced the next Battlefront release... Christmas season 2015, in time for the release of Episode VII.

At least GOG will be able to fill out the need for older SW titles. I was hoping that with the new deal GOG could make a licensing agreement with Disney for new SW games. Looks like EA has it, though.

While you weren't addressing this to me, I have been complaining about the terms of service and won't buy any games with that attached either, so I thought I'd answer too.

Contacting Disney and encouraging others is a good point, though the strength of the voice of one consumer contacting Disney is much less than the strength of the voice of one reseller contacting Disney. Basically Disney's only going to listen if they think it's going to be better for their bottom line. That said, it takes significantly fewer resellers contacting expressing concern than it does customers. Either, in sufficient number, will work, though.

I wouldn't want to encourage people to not purchase for no reason, but I do want to encourage people to notice and be aware of that link on the sale page, and to understand what it means to their rights. I've already had one person reply that DRM-free means agreement to a contractual document doesn't matter, which is not quite correct. As long as a person is sufficiently comfortable with giving up that degree of their rights, then they should purchase the games. Not saying it doesn't make me a little sad that people are willing to give up that degree of their rights, but it's each person's choice. I do hope, that people who find it a concern, be it a concern that's sufficient to stop purchase of one of these games or not, express that to GOG so they are aware the degree of their base that is concerned so they can express that to Disney. I hope that can be a large degree as opposed to a few fringe whiners, though I'm not sure I'm hopeful of that.

On the other hand, from a pragmatic stance as I would like this to change, I hope that enough people buy those games to make Disney consider GOG profitable enough to listen to, and that there are ALSO enough of us who are concerned with the EULA so that Disney might reconsider. I know that's naive, but that's why I call it a "hope."

In the end, I personally will boycott any titles with those terms (but not from the publisher if they release titles without those terms) in the same way that I boycott certain brick and mortar businesses in my local area based upon some of their policies. When I do so I do attempt to politely inform them that I will not be back and the reason and then don't patronize their establishment again. I tell friends that specific restaurants or stores are out of bounds when we're doing things together, and I don't see it as any different from the friend who's a vegetarian (who isn't fond of salads) nixing the steak house as an option.
This was a big get for GOG.

MrAlphaNumeric: I banish you from this community.
Well, Bethesda has Fallout...
WOW. Just... WOW.

Sure, in my humble opinion, Disney is too big to be trusted, and their presence here on GOG makes me feel a little uneasy but...

WOW. GOG scored big time!

(And I'm out of money. Heck!)

opticq: I still can't decide what to buy...
I had the same problem. Decided to solve it by simply buying them all. :)
It should be LucasArts, not LucasFilm.

Depends. The first games were LucasFilm Games. The company was renamed to LucasArts only later.
Thanks GoG - this just renews my excitement about the site in general. Best news ever - hoping for Day of the Tentacle
