Great! Hope it'll be good, or at least watchable.

Admittedly I skimmed it, but there didn't seem to be any info on when or where it would be set. As much as I'd appreciate a more off the beaten path series like Deep Space Nine, after all this time we really need another Enterprise-centric series or at least another formidable ship that categorically lacks any Nelixes on board.

a lot of people from the new movies are involved. so will it be more like the new movie trek? if it is, long time fans might reject it and it might not have enough legs as a tv show to keep going. it'll be interesting to see what shape it takes.
and even more interesting is when it will be set. and whether it will be another alternate universe thing.

Will it have the production values of Game of Thrones?

Aside from the pilot episode which will be shown on TV, all subsequent episodes will stream only at CBS's standalone, monthly-paid streaming service.
I love Star Trek, but if I ever see this it will be via torrent.

Kurtzman? Ugh, no thanks. One of the worst writers in the business IMHO...

Too bad they decided to torpedo it by trying again to push a network.

Yeah, because THAT is what Trek's all about :P I think that's literally the last question that should come to anyone's head when talking about a new Trek.
Seriously now- I'm very excited about this, although I'd like some more details, like whether it's set in the "old" or "new" universe, what's the premise, cast etc. Personaly I hope for the original universe and sort of a next Next Generation, but even if it's set in the new timeline I can live with that, as long as it's a good show.

That alternate universe is some bulls**t, yup I'm going to say it, even ST: Enterprise was better than the movies *gasps*
Those two must have some excellent blackmail material to get all the work they do... again, IMHO...

I'm fine with it looking every bit as cheap as The Original Series if everything else would be even half as good that show. Sure, good visuals are nice, but that's never been Trek's focus. Trek isn't Game of Thrones, and thank heavens for that. Todays TV shows, much like todays movies, have bloated budgets but quality and creativity rarely follows. For all that money and "production values" we keep relaying on iconic designs and imagery made cheaply decades ago.

Is it just me, or did the linked article seem more like an advertisment for CBS All Access than a Star Trek announcment?
