metrallagame: Ive seen the video of the gog galaxy system but does it work like steam? i mean, i wanna buy twd new frontier but will it be permanently saved on my pc or do i need to be logged somehwere else to played it? this is kinda confusing ty xDD
Hi there, and welcome aboard, always nice to see a new face. One of my favorite things about buying games here on GOG is being able to install a game on my gaming computer at home, my traveling laptop, and also on my account on the computer at my gf's house,;and then being able to save and transfer my saves to where I need them, to continue play when I want to. It's awesome XD Be sure to check out the Game Specific forums if you have any problems with games, sometimes, folks here even monitor them, and respond with suggestions and help. If you don't get an answer there, by all means ask here in the General Forum, as quite often, if there isn't anyone currently playing a particular game, it may take a long time or never to get a response there.

Enjoy your DRM-free goodness

bram1253: Pretty much all games with DRM do that to be able to verify if you actually bought the game.
I have very rarely seen a non-DRM game do that.
Games often have different dependencies (like .NET framework or specific versions of DirectX) that may not be installed in the game directory. There are also registry entries that are required for many games telling them where to look for different resources. Simply transferring your install folder bypasses these steps in the installation often leaving games broken on the new computer. Worst case, especially if you've added mods, is to install the game, THEN copy the install folder over the new game install to get your mods and the like up and working. DRM-free has nothing to do with portable.

From the sound of it, he's not using anything yet -- all he said is that he watched the video about Galaxy. That seems to have been the point of metrallagame starting this thread -- he wasn't sure if he wanted to buy a game (the upcoming The Walking Dead "season") here, or elsewhere.

Excuse me, but this clearly contradicts with dozens of stories I've heard about steam users who broke the TOS (even unintentionally, usually by registering some keys which happened to be "illegal") and their accounts were closed (deactivated) which results losing access to all his previously bought games. Not to mention past cases of rules update required by Valve, which you had the choice either to accept it or... lose your account (with all the games without any refund).

This did happen about 5 years ago. Since then, the policy was updated and accounts are no longer closed to matter what.

Well, I remember Valve threatening users to accept new ToS (or else losing their accounts) in august 2012 http://i.imgur.com/YM7Hq.png so it's been 4 years at best. Even if you're saying they don't do such things now, their credibility in my eyes is abysmal and for now I'll continue my personal policy staying as far from Steam as possible.

Well, yes, if you ask them to disable your account, naturally you won't be able to access a disabled account.

Not trying to convince you to use Steam, though. Both of us are obviously here for a reason. =)
Lol, he already asked for a refund XD

You know, there are free games on Gog (just select "free" at the "price" filter) . Grab them and see how Gog works.

Anyway, welcome.

But that's for a pre order.
It means he didn't get to download the game yet...
Welcome to GOG !  :-)
