bela555: nah you just click on the buy button and your pc poop out a CD
Urban Legend but still a classic:

One customer in particular called in and told us, “I think I broke the cup-holder on my PC.” When asked if they were talking about the CD-ROM drive, they said, “Well, No. Maybe. You know, it’s the little cup-holder that goes in and out of the computer.” They were amazed to find out that it doubled as a CD player.

Nowadays it's just a cup holder.

I WISH!

I still can't find a reliable NO CD patch for 'Half-Life 1' or my 'Activision Anthology'.

You know, for all the shit we, well okay I, give Blizzard, they acted pretty quick on patching out their 'Diablo 2' CD REQ and I think they deserve some credit for that.

If I had more reliable internet I'd join Steam in a heartbeat. I probably wouldn't buy much but it would at least open up my options. Snag that Postal Redux for one, forget about the rest of my backlog. ;P

Steam has an offline mode. You could just download the game and then use that.

Yeah I know, and I've very seriously looked into it, but right now it's not enough to go full bore in and join yet.

Thanks
Joan
Welcome. You're a little late to party, but some good people are still here and not all drink. Care to join?

That's nice to hear! :-)

How are your donkeys btw? I hope they are well? Do you have lots of snow already? Last year you posted some impressive pics of... snow and more snow and snow were landscape should be. And forests and mountains in the back, just to get the impression of how much snow we were talking about.

*big hugs*

64 inches in 10 days. I haven't seen the donkeys in five days. Well, I see them stick their heads out of the stables, but that goddamn blizzard wind hits them and they immediately retreat.

Wow. At least you have "white xmas". But I guess that gets old if you always have to dig yourself out every bloody day. I hope you're doing reasonably well out there. I hope the "family" doesn't miss you too much. ;-)

adaliabooks: Hmmm... would it be possible to actually 3D print a working CD?

I suppose if you could print a blank CD you could then burn the files on to it, but it (might) save some bandwidth to just download the blueprint for a finished CD and 3D print that rather than having to download the files and then burn the...

I imagine the material being the main issue... no idea what CDs are actually made of and where 3D printers are at these days in what they can use...
That was an interesting idea. I think another big problem would be resolution. But it's a nice thing to read a little about.
I saw a movie where John Malkovich made a gun with a printer so I guess anything is possible.
