There is an early (free) demo of new Fear Effect. It looks quite interesting to me.

BTW This demo section http://store.steampowered.com/freestuff/demos/ cotains some interestig games. There should be something like that on GOG.
Survival Horror to what appears to be a Commandos-esque strategy? Weird choice, but it looks good.

Two games on PS1. Fear Effect and Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix (which is actually a prequel).

Thanks :D

Looks like a game I'd love. I'll have to snag the demo.

I don't know if this makes a difference but it's RTS, not TBS.

If it was TBS I wouldn't buy it in a million years.

Not just any series, it's a series famous for its lesbian themes.

And that's pretty much all I know about the original games other than that they are some sort of thrillers with a static camera angle. Incidentally just recently they made it onto my the wishlist of games I want for my PSOne collection.

Yeah, the first 2 games are Resident Evil-style... as in, fixed camera angles, tank controls, etc. I played through the first game again a few years back. Still good. It has the minor clumsiness you'd expect from RE-style games, but I had a great time all the way through.
I remember playing the original, looks vaguely interesting.

One thing I wonder about is the difficulty level. For some reason I always sucked at the early Resident Evil games and somehow Fear Effect made it into some Top 10 list of "impossible PSX games" on YouTube or something. Can I safely assume that it's not that bad? :P

It actually runs well enough on my 4GB machine.

Generally speaking, earlier RE is definitely easier. If you're playing FE on hard, prepare to die and retry. Of course, you can always lower the difficulty if you want. Each to his own.
I play everything on easy. I suck. :P
