ShadowWalker56: In the first place Sue and Johnny Storm are supposed to be brother and sister. Johnny is white in the comics. How can he be black in the movie? Doesn't make sense!
adoption ?
step siblings ?

Cheesy line #1 we have heard many times before- "We can't change the past but we can change the future"

Well duh we all know that. Sheesh
Actually, you can't. Unless you do some time travel stuff like in Days of Future Past, which also involves changing the past, to change the future. Just deciding what to do from now on is not "changing the future". It has not happened yet, so you can't "change" it.

sasuke12: Cheesy line #2- Military general: What if we say no ?
Black Human Torch: Say yes.
My god son, that brilliant! I never thought of that! You should be president!

sasuke12: Wait what ? Who hired the crappy writer.
Yeah, it feels like every line is a recycled cliche. It's what I like to call the "Google script generator" effect. In fact, this has been my biggest problem with this movie from the start. It looks, sounds and feels like something written in a boardroom, willed into being by lawyers and charts. It was rushed into production so Fox would not lose the rights, they made Johnny Black, Reed much younger, found a director with all of one movie to his name (it does not have to mean he's bad, but it does not bode well either), they made some generic, dark featurelss costumes and and what sound like a script written by a ten year old "he is stronger than each of us, but not stronger than all of us!" "we do this our way!".

Also, if that is really Doom's voice at 2:04... ugh. Well, Iguess it could have been worse, he could sound like Beaker from th Muppets :P

The sad part is I will probably go see it anyway. I have just enough nostalgia for the FF to care, and after talking so much shit about this movie I feel like I should actually watch it to find out if maybe, just maybe, I'm not entirely wrong. No movie this year surprised me so far, what I expected to be good was good and vice versa, so maybe this will go against my expectations.

And it would have been much better if that was not the case.

It's one of those forced coincidences from the heroes past that I really hate. Like Clark Kent knowing Lex Luthor (and even being friends with him) back in Smallville. Or Sandman being the guy who killed uncle Ben.

It's just a needles stretch on the whole story's plausibility. Some characters do have backstories that tie-in with the hero, like General Zod, but when you try to force it on other characters the effect is hamfisted and just bad.

oh one of those
kent knowing luthor in smallville was one of the comic things though
didnt like sandman being uncle bens killer that was bullshit

i didnt mind the joker being the murderer of batmans parents
it streamlined the storyline for non comic readers and made their rivalry intensley personal
but it is a silly coincidence then again to be honest that movies storyline doesnt hold up to scrutiny anyway

You missed my point. If movies are based on comics then they should stick with what has already been established about the characters not what is convenient to the studios. That's why movies based on Stephen King novels generally suck. In The Shining one of the scariest things about the book was the maze animals and hows t hey came to life in t he movie it was simply a maze.
I really wait for the moment they'll start doing reboots mid-movie.

no i got your point just fine

and the shining is a great movie BECAUSE it broke away from the story
if you want to see the story done verbatim you read the book

thats why its an adaption not a note fo rnote recreation of the source material
there are so many comics and they are so convoluted they have to be streamlined
comic book readers are a minsicule subset of movie goers

oh and your shining exampel falls flat
there was a 1997 mini series that did adapt the majority of the book

there is a reason kubricks shining is a classic and the 97 mini is not

When Suicide Squad comes out the poor OP is going to have an aneurism. :P

Of course he is probably still stewing over Daredevil.

Not to worry though, I hear the remake of Spawn is going to be starring Justin Timberlake. :D

And just out of curiosity, did the OP hit the ceiling like this when Johnny Depp played an American Indian?

Even in Fantastic 4 thread people are talking about other characters. Irony is stronger with this one.

Racist? Seems funny to me that when you point out where if it is pointed out that a black actor shouldn't be playing a white character you're a racist but if a white actor plays a character that is supposed to be black it 's not racist. Seems to be double standards there. I see you're one of t hose PC people.

ah tinyP old pal you do know that al simmons has been replaced by some other bloke for 8 years now in spaws right ?
and jim downing seems to be caucasian
Damn this looks like a disaster. I was expecting a poor reception, and I thought I will go see it regardless, but it looks like it's way worse then I thought. I don't believe reviews to much usually, I'm often at odds with majority opinions, but this looked pretty bad from the start with it's boring trailers and bland cast, and now it looks like no one is sticking up for it. No one. Including the movies director.

Ok, there are other movies with 9% on rotten tomatoes I like. Even like a lot. So maybe I should give "Fant4stick" a chance. But damn, this just looks so dull. Is there anything that makes it worth it? Anybody?
