I must say that lack of new interesting* releases latetly has reached it's top with the news about this new trailer.

I mean, you could release Conspiracy - KGB advenure game from Microids (they are selling it elsewhere) but you chose to release a trailer?

Or you could try to re-release Silmarils which was released by DotEmu long time ago and now it's not available in any store, but you chose to release this trailer?

I understand that it's hard to release more classics these days, but it's not that you released all that are available.

*classic or some really hot title
For a brief moment I thought it is related to the release of the other Smurfs game:

There's actually been some good news lately: The Thing, Epic Mickey, Steamworld Heist 2, although all that is "comin soon". But yeah, a news post for a trailer is kinda weird. And for a Smurfs game of all things. Don't get me wrong, the Smurfs comics and the cartoon were very nice, and the game looks ok but it's not exactly "hype so high we need every update" kind of a release.

Anyway, I'd be much happier to see that new Moomins game released here.

Well no, that Ultrasmurf game can be bought at the moment, not nearly as exciting as something that can be bought soon.

With the Summer Sale probably starting tomorrow, it's not really surprising that GOG is holding back the more interesting stuff.

I mean, [...] you chose to release a trailer?
They did not "release a trailer"...they created a "Coming Soon" thread. Like ten dozen others before this one.

SLP2000: [...] you could release Conspiracy - KGB advenure game from Microids (they are selling it elsewhere) [...]
And apparently Microids doesn't want to sell it here on GOG.
Maybe an exclusive deal with that other platform?
Nothing, that GOG can do about that.

Are we talking about these games?

Apparently not.
(as a reply to both statements)

No, they made a new news thread especially for this trailer. There already was a "coming soon thread" for this game.

I hope you are right, all I see lately are some new indie games. Which is ok, I buy them as well, but I'd really want to see some classics from time to time (maybe we get some Capcom games during the sale).

Yeah they did, Breja already posted link to the "coming soon" news.

Nothing, that GOG can do about that.
And you know that or just assume it is the reason? Because I'm not really interested in your speculations. And from the past releases I can tell that Microids don't release classics as exclusives and they do want to sell their old games here.I can't tell for sure, but I could bet that GOG just wasn't interested in that game when it was possible to release it. It's not that it was very popular either. But now, when they don't have many classics in batch waiting for a release, they could reconsider, insted of releasing trailers.

BreOl72: Are we talking about these games?
No, we are talking about other Silmarils game like Colorado, Transarctica, Storm Master or Targhan
Any number of games could be courted. They choose not to is more annoying when there are plenty developers thinking gog must go to them. All in all a lazy mess when we could see decent titles here, yet we dont as of late.

Anyone know wth is going on with Dwarf Fortress with graphics? I thought that game was coming here when they had graphics??
avatar
SLP2000: Yeah they did.
Sure - as they did in several other cases - so nothing new here, to get riled up about.

In other words: "I don't like YOUR theory - I prefer MY theory."
Okey dokey.
Nothing more to say to that sort of "logic".

Well: GOG is GOG and Dotemu is Dotemu.
But: GOG is not Dotemu, and Dotemu is not GOG.

And because that is the way it is, GOG can't release what Dotemu doesn't offer them to release.
Just like with the Microids games.
(but we already established, that you're not interested in theories that go against your wishful thinking, so that's that)
So is this like Super Mario 3D World reskinned?

EverNightX: So is this like Super Mario 3D World reskinned?
Every genre should only be allowed to have a single game in it. When somone make a game in a genre for the first time, then noone shold make another game in that genre, NEVER!

Do you mean but your question - "Is this a 3D platform game", then the answer is - "Yes, yes it is"

No, I'm just not interested in your theory.

I did not write my post for you to try to answer me, but to GOG to show my disappointment with the lack of classic releases lately and a release of this trailer. If you have anything interesting to say, go ahead, but if you want to share your theories that noone cares about, then move on.

(and btw, I did contact some companies to say that I'd like to see their games here, and in one case I was asked for a help to tell them what GOG really is and after that they signed contract with GOG, so yeah, I will write whatever I want and whenever I want to show to GOG what I'd like them to release here. I want GOG to contact Dot Emu and Microids and release those games here and you are not the person to tell me what I should do or not. Get a life.

As soon as I have one, that I want to share, I will.
Not that I need your permission to do so.
