Hello!

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuJbR-hZpAc&ab_channel=Aggrogamer (2 minutes)

Earhtworm Jim is getting a...reboot? Sequel? I'm not really sure. Whatever it's called, we're getting more Earthworm JIm cartoons. I liked the original show, but I don't remember it very well (I was 10 at the time. I would like just about anything that was animated). The 'trailer' is more like an interview, so there's not that much to comment on. I like the animation. I also like the actor portraying him.

He says it's meant for both kids and adults. He also says "ass" and mentions rehab - so I think this might be PG material. I mean hard PG, like the kind of PG that boarders PG-13 (not that I'm complaining). That's all I can think of for now. Let me know what you think.
The best news is, Doug TenNapel isn't involve with this reboot at all.

What do you mean? You don't like his animation? I'm not defending him, just curious.
Well that's a surprising blast from the past. I liked the Earthworm Jim games a lot, but I never watched the cartoon.

Compared to the games, this trailer seems very... tame. And way to talky. The games were wild, fast, zany and completely, utterly absurd. Jim Is Now A Blind Cave Salamander! Why? We don't ask these sort of questions, just run with it! I would have prefered something like the new Looney Tunes Cartoons, or the Mickey Mouse shorts. Those two series really resurrected old school slapstick cartoons with an added bit of weirdness in a tremendously succesfull way. To have a new Earthworm Jim cartoon appear in their wake and look like this, with the comic highlights being talking about how dirt tastes and refrencing the fact that Dune is a thing is just bizarre, and not in a good way.

I do wonder if the show will feature Professor Monkey-For-A-Head, or maybe some new villains meant to mock evolution. Hey, I wouldn't mind. I'm not one of those who get offended and demand jokes be censored over who is right about Serious Business, and whatever idiocy inspired his creator, Professor Monkey-For-A-Head is still a hilarious idea for a villain.

Which version of the first two games are your favourites? What do you think of the N64 title and Menace 2 the Galaxy?

Edit: I removed the stupid anecdote.

Edit 2: typo

I like 2 the best, but maybe that's because it's easier so I can still replay it and have fun with it today. The first one and that underwater glass sub level can go screw itself :P I only ever played the PC games. I didn't even own any handhelds or consoles (untill a PS4 relatively recently).

Oh, it's not about his animation skills at all, but more simply a matter of his choices.

Much like Chris Pratt, Doug is no ally of mine.
Careful, you might "trigger" some of the most fragile specimens of the gaming world.
Start distributing safety pins ASAP.
Not sure i'd be interested in EWJ without TenNapel involved.

I enjoyed EWJ2 a lot, but I wish it had a couple more traditional platforming/shooting stages, and that snott wasn't added in a way that made the head whip redundant. Also the Flying King level can die in a fire.
One of my favorite parts about EWJ 2 were the Peter Puppy puppy saving bonus stages.

PS: You're an awful human being Darvond.
The show is being made by progressive, so yet another franchise for them to ruin.

"The fans have matured and deserve a current take as we bring in new audiences” (producer Aaron Billet in Variety, https://nycfolksreport.com/earthworm-jim-animated-series-in-development/). That's similar to what they said about Bebop, He-Man, Star Trek, Star Wars ... If they had any respect for actual fans, they'd follow the original as much as possible, and match the writing quality.

So my expectations are very low, and judging by the trailer it does not look good, he is nothing like original character.

I knew there was a reason I immediately hated the art direction.
The dialog in that trailer, the way it was written, is so not the Earthworm Jim of old I'd almost call it cringe...

And let's be honest there's no "maturing" of the old Earthworld Jim series, it's one of the most mature forms of humor I've ever seen hit the TV screens in an animation (along with the likes of Mad Jack The Pirate).

Oh yes exactly this. EWJ2 definitely required more 'normal' platforming levels. And agreed on those infernal flying levels.

Totally agree. Those stages were my favorite too. It's the animation on Jim's expressions that makes it so hilarious too me, his panick when the pups are bouncing and his exhausted panting when there's a second's break.

"Jim is an earthworm in a universe where Earth is nothing more than a myth." - where are they taking this from? Wasn't Jim just a normal worm from Earth who just happened upon the tech suit that fell from space?

The dialogue sounds very try-hard... and I'm not even sure what it's trying so hard to be.

I sure can't wait for you to bring peace, freedom, justice, and security to your new Empire.
