I am browsing that digitec sale just for fun https://www.digitec.ch

Also, the trouble of taking it through customs and then pay those extra duties for importing something from outside EU, nah no thank you.

I have seen the best prices on Mindfactory.de but a few months ago they changed their policy and now they don't ship to consumers outside Germany, only businesses :(

Themken: Looks good indeed :-) (but red would be better)...
Here's your case! :P

It looks nice and many cases can be painted if one does not like the colour but it is ITX so more expensive and the case is also a bit too pricey for me. Thank you for the suggestion though :-)

I know what you're saying. I like ITX cases too, but I wouldn't build an ITX system for myself even if I had the money for it. Too cramped, usually poor ventilation and limited upgrade options.
So, i think i don't want to wait too long before playing on PC again, PS3 limitations are too... limiting.

Anyways, looking over a possible build. Since there's HD TV's, and going heavily on a DIY kit on NewEgg here's what i'm planning. I'd hopefully like feedback where i decide within the next couple days.

NewEgg DIY bundle

Includes:
1x AMD RYZEN 3 1300X 4-Core 3.5 GHz (3.7 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 65W YD130XBBAEBOX Desktop Processor (Model:YD130XBBAEBOX) $124.99
1x GIGABYTE GA-AB350-GAMING 3 (rev. 1.0) AM4 AMD B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard (Model:GA-AB350-GAMING 3) $99.99
1x Phanteks Eclipse P300 PH-EC300PTG_BK Black Steel Chassis, Tempered Glass Window ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (Model:PH-EC300PTG_BK) $59.99
1x EVGA 600 B1 100-B1-0600-KR 80+ BRONZE 600W Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply (Model:100-B1-0600-KR) $39.99
1x GeIL EVO POTENZA 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model GPR48GB2400C16DC (Model:GPR48GB2400C16DC) $89.99
1x WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX (Model:WD10EZEX) $46.99

And then for a video card MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti DirectX 12 GTX 1050 Ti GAMING 4G 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card. $260

Notes: Power supply has 600W while the Video card requires 75-300W
8Gb Memory, although i'd prefer 12-16 it should be more than enough for 99% of the games as long as i don't try to ramdrive it.
No CD/DVD drive.

Total: $690

Thoughts? suggestions?

With Ryzen you want faster RAM or do you hope to overclock those modules. Also, Ryzen is quite picky with RAM so better check that whatever you pick is suitable.

rtcvb32: And then for a video card GTX GeForce 1050 4Gb DX 12. $260
I was just about to offer you some advice, but I decide to check you link. You mention gtx1050, but you actually linked a GTX 1050TI. Which was indeed what I wanted to recommend to you.

You might also consider going with the Ryzen r3 1200, which you can overclock to 3.7, by just changing a value in the bios.

HOWEVER, if you really, really, really, don't want to mess overclocking your processor, then the 1300x is also good. I just wish somebody would have told me about the Ryzen1200 when I built my system, half of year ago, for which I bought a 1300x

What follows is just for completeness. There is currently no reason to get:
Ryzen r3 1300x when you can get the Ryzen r3 1200,
Ryzen r5 1600x when you can get the Ryzen r5 1600,
Ryzen r7 1700x when you can get the Ryzen r7 1700.

The Ryzen r5 1600x and 1700x are even worse deals, since the cheaper, non X versions 1600 and 1700, come with coolers.
Guess its still all that bitcoin craze going on but 260 for a 1050Ti seems pretty high to me. You could almost get the 1060/480 for that a year ago, dunno, id maybe wait on upgrading the GPU, if the old one is still halfway decent at least.

Not planning on overclocking, i don't need that extreme and any headaches that come with it. Maybe.

This will be only the second computer i put a dedicated graphics card in for gaming, so the little extra letters and their meanings escape me. sorry on that.

Though i do remember the last CPU i got a few years ago was a Hybrid chip, so there were GPU capabilities on the CPU, and would be decent if you didn't want a dedicated video card...

I do also have some Zotac graphics cards that aren't nearly as beefy but i could plug in and probably use.

I doubt it will die down, but as the difficulty of bitcoin goes up the profits of using cards goes down (and with graphics cards it's already really low, unless the BTC price goes way up), although these graphics cards aren't intended to run 24/7.

Guess it depends more on if crypto currency X becomes too difficult and another one not yet wide-spread looks promising, mine a few in Y and Z...

Seeing some NVidia Geforce GT stuff, Zotac, MSI... Probably could have gotten a better deal back a month or something ago when there was some of these more on sale but didn't think i wanted it then.
If you want pre-built system then go for this one:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883164002 - $619.99

DELL Desktop Computer Inspiron 5675 i5675-A933BLU-PUS Ryzen 5 1400 (3.20 GHz) 8 GB DDR4 1 TB HDD AMD Radeon RX 570 Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

But i prefer to make config on my own since you always get better value. Since it would be your second PC, i would go for Ryzen 5 2400G APU (CPU + GPU). All depens on your budget and your needs.

While i don't mind a pre-built, i do dislike the windows 10 being pushed, which $100 or so of the price is going to be the windows license.

Also pre-built systems tend to be something like twice as expensive as if you got the parts and built your own. Nothing wrong with that, but i'm competent enough in my skills that i am willing to put in the 1-2 hours to build a system.

If i was going a bit cheaper i'd probably do what i did back in 2005, get a barebones ($200 or so) and throw in upgraded parts if i need them. The big problem is barebones might not have a very powerful power supply; Meaning you'd have to be extra picky on low power parts. (though i have a couple video cards that are promising for low cost).

Hmmm, i'll go ahead and make my order then. So next week i should be able to build it.

You are stuck with Windows 10 no matter if you go Ryzen route or Intel 7th - 8th gen CPU. In case you go Ryzen, like Themken said, pick faster RAM (3000 or 3200MHz) but make sure your motherboard supports it.

If you need any help or advice with picking up parts, give us a shout. :p
