immi101: they are already contradicting themselves in their own FAQ

Will mods for Neverwinter Nights work on Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition?
Some mods will require updating before they are compatible with Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition.

immi101:
In this case, they can't be really blamed since some of the older modules haven't been updated in ages and aren't even compatible with the latest version of the non-enhanced game. Obviously, those aren't going to work on the EE either, unless the original creator does an update, which is very unlikely.

I can't believe I just defended Beamdog... I think I need a shower now.

Stig79: The Beamdog fanboys, not the BG fanboys.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: It's one and the same. Beambeech forums are INFESTED by this kind of "special charismatic individuals". Even the staff they hire to write part for their game(s). Their place is the closest thing to SJW Central Snowflake HQ or something!
No. Beamdog fans are not fans of the BG games. They never were.
I'm torn on this one, the game literally doesn't have much to enhance and it still works good on modern OS's, so I agree with many of the comments here.

On the other hand the Linux port could use some work, the old one still functions and a 64bit binary would be greatly appreciated. Personally this would be my only reason for buying.

Aah yes, now i understand. Obviously, you are correct!

they aren't even updating much. They are improving the graphics a bit. That's it. It is basically just a small patch, really.

if that's all that will break, that would be totally acceptable. Guess we will have to wait until it is released to "assess the damage" :)

But then they can charge triple the price and delete the old awesome content and force anyone else to buy their version!

it don't think anybody (or at least not many) would oppose an update to the existing game that simply fixes certain problems / bugs.
However, I can't really justify re-buying the game for twice the price just to get what in the end is not more than a glorified patch. That's rather insulting to the owners of the original game.

Beamdog needs to stop ruining stuff that has nothing wrong with it in the first place.

Boy this is a blood thirsty bunch. i for one am looking forward to it. i will say this to all the people complaining about it. don't like it, don't buy its as simple as that. all i see is negativity. well if you can do better go ahead. i only see Beamdog working on it. if you can do better, call up bioware and let them know, maybe they'll give the project to you. long story short stop your bitching. end trans.

If you had read the complaints instead of just dismissing them, you'd know that this decision is likely to affect the availability of Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition, so your simplistic formula doesn't apply here. If they'd offer the Enhanced Edition as an alternative, so that players had the choice of sticking to NWN DIamond or paying twice the price for a few ease-of-use features and fixes, there'd be less reason for complaints. But if Beamdog's past handling of Enhanced Editions is anything to go by, they'll take down Diamond Edition from stores, so that players interested in NWN will have no choice but to buy the EE or forget about the game once and for all, meaning the release will probably worsen the situation for all those who don't like it.

Try reading what people are actually saying. If you do that you might find that the post you just wrote makes zero sense.
I can't wait for Baldur's Gate: Super Enhanced Edition from Beamdog for $30. /S
