Hickory: I just find it incredible that people still choose to support a company that uses despicable business practices and continually shits on (non-toady-sycophantic) users. It's clear why: selfishness.

mystral: I think one of the main problems is that most big devs and publishers treat their customers like shit. So if gamers restricted themselves to buying games from consumer-friendly companies, they honestly wouldn't have much to play.

That being said, I do agree we should punish the worst ones by simply not buying their games, but unfortunately most gamers don't seem to share that opinion.
Oh, there'd be a fair amount to play, if you look around hard enough. But, as always, playing and buying are completely different things. No need to give up on something you want to play to punish the publisher by not buying. And that's an actual message sent anyway, in a field where this is a possibility, because in this case neither buying nor playing is as if you were never interested in the first place.

Easily. Their games are DRM-free, and support Linux.
I don't like a lot of what Beamdog did....their original Baldur's Gate Add On...was terrible...but the hate they are getting here is pretty over the top. I swear, some people here live to hate on Beamdog.

A typical out of touch reply.

Frozen: Nobody asked for this.
How would you know that? Are you a mind reader?

anothername: That will be interesting to see how it plays out. Back then NWN was actually considered a exceptionally weak Bioware game (that was before EA) and its only saving grace and biggest selling point the Aurora Toolset.
For the base game that's true, but the two expansions were considered well done at the time.

I thought of that earlier. I like drm-free multilayer so I can lan with! Miss with a single copy (all on my computers in my house). Nwn would be easy to do it, bit they won't. Heck, they added keys to bg and iwd.

I understand needing it when they host services (like they are) but wish we could lan all day long.

OK, I'll change my statement a little.

"Nobody sane asked for this."

Sounds better?

_NINA_: I am looking forward for the day beamdog disappear from existence on this planet.
Bunch of talentless hackers, and parasite of the gaming dev industry.

Is there any millionaire here ??? :)
If yes then please for the love of ancient gods do us a favor and buyout the beamdog and then close them for good :D
EA does this and does this best. But with Beamdog, it won't work... EA only buys out and destroys, GOOD groups who made GREAT games (of their own, too)! There is no hope, those leeching, freeloading, agenda-ridden parasites, are stuck on our gamers' necks for good...

avatar
Stig79: The changes isn't the issue though. It is the removal of the classic from the stores, so they can stuff a straw into the artery of yet another beloved game, and suck it dry. If they hadn't removed the classics from the stores everytime they "improve" a game it would have been a non-issue.
If they allowed the originals to exist, nobody would buy their inferior, much more expensive, bug-ridden, agenda-infested crup... Save for a bunch of mentally & genetically impaired... I mean very "special", people!

You can do better than that! Let me finalize your thought:

"Nobody sane asked for this, or the other games, to be defiled by Beamdog"

There, all better now.

Implying that wanting a graphically enhanced version of the original that plays nicely with modern operating systems is insane?

Wanting a graphically enhanced version of the original that plays nicely with modern operating systems is not insane.
Expecting that from Beamdog is.

The expansions are simply great; thats true.

*sigh* Good time when expansions where still expansions :P

Not that old NWN also experimented with always online connected/activation key mod/DLCs in its later stages. ...bastards. :/

It wouldn't, but the facts are that NWN already works perfectly on modern OS, and that judging from the trailer, Beamdog doesn't plan to upgrade the graphics at all. So yes, you probably have to lack a certain amount of sanity to see any point in this "Enhanced Edition".
