Hi,

Recently I installed a brand new copy of Windows in my laptop and one of the first things I installed was the Galaxy client, together with other software.

I noticed when I was trying to remove software I needed for a single use, that I've got a .NET Framework 4.6.1 installation in Control Panel > Uninstall. But that installation was in Russian. Galaxy client updated before I recall.
Could this be because of the client? Any of you experienced the same?

Might be. Have had gog.com show up in russian aswell, although language preferences are set to english in browser.

You don't actually need any other version than 4.6.1, it backward compatible with every net framework since 4.0
For framework 3 and lower you need framework 3.5 aswell.

Yes I knew that. The only thing is that I don't know if it's normal and comes from GOG that the framework thing is setted in Russian language by default, because it suddenly appeared there in Russian, and want understand that.

If you are really doubted, then http://mantis.gog.com/view_all_bug_page.php and file a bug report or if you're adventuroud, search bug tracker if anyone had the same problem :)

I hate the fact that they even make localized versions of the .NET framework. Whenever I have to debug something on a Danish Windows installation I despair, because trying to google Danish .NET exceptions is usually fruitless.

Yup.
The worst is a localized windows from a friend or relative which has a language pack installed and is FUBAR-ed. Oh dogdamnit.

Yes, completely agree. Sometimes debugging "translated" exceptions isn't effective at all. So, worse would be it in Russian. Really don't know if it's a Galaxy Client thing.

I'm fairly certain I've told you about Unlocalize before. Still, yeah, I definitely agree. I mean, Windows itself can be switched to any supported language at the user's whim, they could at least make all first-party software follow that setting.

You have, and I'm grateful for it ;-) Still, it's cumbersome and annoying, and above all, it shouldn't be necessary.

As for switching languages in Windows at will, that is only possible in the Ultimate edition from Windows 7 and backwards.
