Need help to anyone who may have some suggestions. I was born in 1990. My dad had an old PC game, I think it was still on a floppy disk that I played when he was station in Japan. This would have been between 1993 and 1998. He wasn't much of a gamer so I doubt it was very new and since I was so young I barely remember anything about it and he doesn't remember much either. This is probably a long shot but I wanted to give this a try. The only thing he remembers is there was a crazy guy laughing almost as a hillbilly character would laugh and if I remember right he was either a red or brown shirt and a weathered hat, sitting in some chair I think. and maybe a spittoon near him? I've been trying my best to find games like this but since I haven't found that scene I can't be sure. Like the Myst series looks close to what the art was except I'm not sure if the characters we actual models of real people. I think the characters we animated. Again I'm not positive about that but I'm sure the graphics we just like the Myst series. The closest thing I've found was Riven, Sequal to Myst. A lot of that gameplay was feeling familiar but again I haven't found that exact seen and so I can't be sure. Anyway, if anyone out there has any screenshots or any idea of what I'm talking about, I can't tell you how thankful I would be and I could bring it up to my dad and maybe give him a chance to play it over again. He's asked me about it a few times if I remember playing this game with him and it would definitely mean a lot. Thank you in advance

Parts of what you say remind me of Return to Zork which is available here on GOG. It is kinda Myst-like, as opposed to Doom-like, since you move around and point in different directions to see things. It came out in 1993 so it would be eligible per your requirements.

There is an old "hillbilly" character you will meet that is slightly animated, and he would say "Want some rye? Course ya' do!" and might chuckle or laugh a little as he talks. He might be the character you're thinking of. Take a look at this video clip...

Return to Zork
If tritone's guess isn't correct, and you're not averse to using reddit, then try posing this on /r/tipofmyjoystick. It's a thread dedicated to these kinds of questions. Just bear in mind that after such a long time you're mind can warp your memory of such a thing, particulary (speaking of things I discovered years later myself) what colour sceme/theme a scene/thing had.
Broken Sword 2 maybe.
I think tritone's got it. I'd be surprised if it wasn't Return to Zork.
It was the first thing that came to mind.

When I read your post, the very first game that instantly popped into my mind was the drunk guy in Return to Zork, which I see tritone already posted, so that's definitely a good first pick. :)
