My cousin recently asked me about good games for android and I told him that he would need to chose one of "good" and "android game". Now I feel that I am a bit uninformed and would like to get a better idea of how the gaming scene in android is.
Firstly, no microtransactions and secondly it should be playable offline. Finally I'd be glad if you can separately list free and non-free ones. Thank you! :)

What do you play? I am quite new to android games so I am unaware of what's out there but I know that I didn't particularly like FPS games on android. (Tried one of those free zombie based fps)

Humble bundle provides some of awesome android games.
Games which I have listed doesn't have FPS shooter.
However you should try DOOM RPG.
It's good.

Tomb Raider GO is also good if you like puzzle game.
