Will since I also just stumbled into this genre a couple of days ago, and lstened to quite some stuff, I might be able to give you some hints.
The God of synthwave is definitely the one and only . [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vsf3zYppP4]<span class="bold">Dangerous Days</span> is pretty much the best thing in the enitre genre, there's nothing that comes even close. His new album The Uncanny Valley will be released next week, I think.

And, of course, if you want 80s synth stuff, you can never go wrong with the man who basically invented it: John Carpenter. He released a studio album called <span class="bold">Lost Themes</span>, and it's absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best albums that were released last year, and the one that got me into that kind of music.
A few weeks ago he released a sequel, <span class="bold">Lost Themes II</span>

Two other great albums are <span class="bold">Behemoth by GosT</span> and <span class="bold">Trilogy by Carpenter Brut</span>

Now this is a special occasion- we agree on something in the world of popular culture! And yes, Oldfield is a good recommendation too. I'm partial to Songs of the Distant Earth myself.

Judging from the book recommendations you made in another thread, I believe we're pretty much in accord with most things other than movies.

jefequeso: I'm looking for music similar to the Unreal soundtrack, the Bladerunner soundtrack, and the Only God Forgives soundtrack... ya know, 80s-esque synth stuff. Pandora just keeps spitting out Enya however. So... any suggestions?
