What game are you having this problem with? Without knowing more, the common problem solving steps are all that I can suggest: try to repair the installation; uninstall and reinstall; try another game and see if the same problem occurs (if so it might be a problem with galaxy); try to run the game outside of galaxy, all purpose reboot of computer and/or galaxy.
The specific OS would be helpful as well because some games here do not run on certain OSes.

You may want to go into whatever file manager you're using and try running it directly as well.

Hope this helps
Hi

Baldur's Gate 2 has two different versions, the original and the enhanced. Which one are you using? I don't recall the original version working on Windows 10 although the enhanced one is supposed to.

Did you try the suggestions made up above? Running outside of Galaxy would be the first thing I would try.

You may want to skim the Baldur's Gate subforum to see if anything pops out:

hi
not sure if i have the enhanced...probably not but it just says baldurs gate 2 complete. i did try running it outside of the GoG galaxy and it said to configure the game first...tried that and it still says the application cannot play.

Did you install to your windows folders (program files)? If so, you'll have to enable permissions on the folder to write the config files. I'd recommend installing outside the windows folders (C:\games\ for example) and that will solve many problems especially with older games.
thanks for that idea, unfortunately it didnt work. i did create a folder "games" in the c drive and tried to install it there. still wont run. im kinda inept at computer stuff tho so...lol

No problem. Did you completely uninstall the game, then reinstall it to the new folder, or did you just copy the folder over? Due to registry entries you'll need to fully uninstall the game first using the Galaxy uninstall option (under manage installation) or the Windows uninstall option (control panel->programs and features-> find Baldur's Gate 2 and uninstall) then install the game again either through the offline installer or through Galaxy. First though, change the install directory in Galaxy (or in the installer's option menu) to something besides c:\program files or program files(x86). Then run the config tool. If that doesn't work, then you may need to turn on Direct Play in the windows 10 options.

If there are interesting error messages, please show them. Windows has a nice tool for that: "Snipping Tool". Just enter "snip" in Windows search and it should show up. Then select the screen area with the error message and save as file.

Now comes the really difficult part... You have to rename the file extension to lower case, because the forum software is broken and won't accept it if it's upper case.

Since you wrote you are "inept" with computers... somebody else needs to tell you how to show filename extensions by default (which is very recommendable anyway!) in Win 10.
Then you can upload the pics with the errors here, maybe we can see what's going wrong.

It does. I have it installed on my Win10 rig and have played many hours of it.
i did completely uninstall and reinstall into the folder i created C:games. the message i keep gettin is-

BGMain.exe - Application error
the application was unable to start correcty (0xc0000022) click ok to close the application.

Where would i go to turn on Direct Play in Win10?
