The camera mode can actually be switched on the fly between the pseudo-isometric overhead views (low- and high-angle) and the over-the-shoulder "follow cam" view (which is what I mostly played in).

Cavalary: Surprised to see Septerra Core in that company. Quite liked it, more than I thought I would, but definitely unlike the others.

As for NotR, may have suggested Gothic 2 myself, but the change in character development and the difficulty spike brought by NotR is why I started that game in 2005 and am yet to finish it. Probably not even halfway through last time I gave it a go, which save date says was March 2012. Didn't even dare since, despite the fond memories and quite the draw it has, what I was saying about feeling at home in Khorinis. Probably messed up too, trying to find ways around things that were either just too hard or too frustrating, impossible to do "right".
Septerra Core was the first game I played. It holds a special place for me. But, that apart, I found the story and lore interesting, also how the magic system works. I enjoyed playing a female protagonist and the relationships between the characters can hold some depth - if you choose to engage with the game in that manner.

I loved the difficulty spike in NotR. Plus, there are additional quests and narrative depth that come with this version of Gothic II. The difficulty does mean you have to pick your fights very carefully at the start, but this scenario does improve quite rapidly.

One game I missed off was Divine Divinity - loved the humour and the Easter Eggs, also the skill tree in this one.

Scartch: All good things must come to a pass. When I finish this third go round I would really like to find another similar game that I might get as much enjoyment from.
Arcanum, obviously, it's made by the same people.

Scartch: I'm in the middle of my Vampire ; The Masquerade game as a Nosferatu.
This is the singular best (and sexiest) role playing game I've ever experienced.
All good things must come to a pass. When I finish this third go round I would really like to find another similar game that I might get as much enjoyment from.
However I don't plan to abandon Vamp. It has great repeatability. Just don't want to get bored with it.
So, I'm hoping that the GOG forum members would help me in this quest.
Appreciate any and all help.
Thanks...
Scartch try PLANESCAPE TORMENT I'm sure you will love it and it's music sounds LOVELY

What about DARK? Not on GOG(yet) but seems decent in the vampire rpg genre.

I'll second ShadowRun

https://www.gog.com/game/shadowrun_dragonfall_directors_cut
https://www.gog.com/game/shadowrun_hong_kong_extended_edition

I've played and completed the first two and they've very well done, great story telling and atmosphere.

I didn't know that, but then I prefer iso view so I never actually looked to see if the game had another angle.

I like to have as much info available as possible. The Witcher's combat system might have been my absolute favorite in an action RPG. I know a lot of people hate it, but I really enjoyed the parrying, heavy, quick strike system with blocking and taking on multiple enemies at a time. I just find it so much better from iso view as opposed to getting hit in the back or from the side by an opponent you can't see.

I think exploration and NPC interaction is better in over-the-shoulder mode, while fighting against groups of more than about two enemies is slightly better in iso, if for no other reason than the improved situational awareness. (Combat with one or even two enemies is fine in OTS, I found.)
Of course, I always forgot to change the camera mode when I found myself in combat, so I wound up doing almost every battle, no matter the size, in OTS view anyway. :P
May I suggest some of my favourites games of likewise nature?
Never actually played Vampire but judging from the looks of it, games like KOTOR, KOTOR II, Shadowrun, Fable (I enjoy the second most but it's consol only, otherwise get the first one), Dragon Age and Witcher 1 (it runs great on most machines) should suit you. I started playing Witcher 1 just last week and I'm really enjoying it so far.

KOTOR has a relatively high replay value, I myself have played the first one four times and the second three times.

Wow! Can't get over the great response.
I'll have to go carefully through the suggestions and research each.
Today, I have to get back to "the real world" and do some needed chores.
Thanks so much for all your help.
