With the power of Kickstarter, the cult TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 may return.
For those not in the know,MST3K was a very succesful series lasting 10 seasons in the 90s. The basic premisse is that a guy and 2 robots are trapped in a satellite and forced to watch cheesy movies by 2 mad scientists all the while making fun of the movie(or riffing).
It's an awesome show that not only was incredably funny but it brought back some very obscure movies into the light, making them cult classics. The best example of this is "Manos":The Hands of Fate, considered one of the funniests and a great starting point if you want to start watching the series.
And if you want to see MST3K,there's the official Youtube channel with several classics episodes.
Fans or people who got interested in the show's premisse, head over to Kickstarter and help #BringBackMST3K

We have enough "Comedic Movie Critics" on the internet right now.

Nostalgia Critic, CinemaSins, Honest Trailers, HowItShouldHaveEnded.

Eh what can Mystery Science Theater 3000 offer that is not on the table right now?

Well,they invented it.
All of these take inspiration from the show and Rifftrax(project by Mike Nelson, one of the main writters and second host of the show) is doing really good,I even bought some Trax.
Mike Nelson should run for president. But only if his VP choice is Tom Servo.

Post the link without the http:// part, should work and it shouldn't be a problem for the rest to visit either.

I almost laughed when I saw the word 'comedic'... but then I saw quotations.

Also, I don't like very much full movie commentaries.
I'm afraid I have to kill Elmo.

I think I'll put acid in his parachute.

But what kind of acid?

"There must be a wide assortment of acids to choose from."
I'm actually in the middle of watching all MST3K episodes, one or two a week with a friend right now. I'd be stoked to see more from Joel and the Bots. I enjoy numerous internet reviewers but the original snarkers are still the best.

I'm glad to see this KS happen, I've known Joel has wanted to bring the show back for some time now and I truly hope he can pull it off. The current level of pledges sure make it seem like could.
I know it's heresy among the nerds but... I never liked MST. Reviews like Spoony made are one thing, but watching the whole movie with people making jokes over it just doesn't suit me. Actually I find watching such movies more fun without their comments. I guess my mind provides it's own riff track.

But hey, I know many people love it, so I'm glad it's coming back. I just wish we could get Knightmare back, now that's the nerdy show I miss the most.

I don't even know how to drive a car so what makes you think I'm capable of skydiving ;)
Glad to hear about the return of the original.

So many comedic reviewers today have tried to emulate it, but they keep falling short.

Let's hope the original team can recreate the magic

You don't Skydive? Hmmmm, have you tried Side-Hacking?
Hi-keeba! One of my favorite shows, these guys helped shape my sense of humor during my (otherwise boring) formative years and are directly responsible of my love of schlocky cinema. If it wasn't for them, I'd be a very different (and probably a lot more cynical) person.

I'm proud to call myself a fan, and so should you! Join us, won't you?
