Hi everybody - are the wonder series of the MYST games available on DVD/VD?

I should add that I am aware the Windows 10 compatible versions are downloadable from GOG. I would like to know if these Windows 10 compatible versions are available in formats such as CD/DVD or USB stick.

I'm not sure what you mean by "wonder series", but yes, all Myst games are available on CD as they were originally produced that way. The only question is if your system is old enough to play them since, if I remember correctly, the first one runs on Windows 95.
Edit: You could try buying the 10th Anniversary pack (which is a pretty hefty price if bought new, but it's the only way I know of if you want a physical disk) which comes with the original, Riven, and Exile on DVDs, but it only runs up to XP.

If you get must on dvd, just give it a gentle wipe with a cloth...
Well yes, but not here on GOG.
Unless you count burning them on disc yourself.
If you are looking for the original Myst Windows release, it was a very common game and you'd have a good shot of finding a copy at some local thrift shop. I bought a copy this way.

Thank you. I mis-typed: I do not know why I spelt "wonderful" as "wonder". My bad. Yes, of course - it seems the only CDs or DVD available for the MYST series are meant for Windows XP. I have actually retained one of my PCs with Windows 7 on it. So I can play MYST on it. I was hoping, perhaps naively, I might be able to find Windows-10 adampted CDs or DVDs...I imagine they might cost a wee bit more than usual. Thank you anyway.

Question, why not download the games from GOG and burn those to a DVD?
Call Sandra, she may still have one.

There aren't any as of yet. As is the modern trend, they've all gone digital. JMich brings up a good suggestion, you could buy/download the GOG versions and burn them to a disc.

Unfortunately, some of the Myst games (realMyst, Riven and Uru) lack Windows 10 support entirely, even on GOG. It doesn't mean that there's absolutely no chance they'll run on Win 10, but GOG won't offer technical support or refunds if they fail to do so. After all, old Windows games are sometimes very delicate when it comes to compatibility with newer systems. For example, the recently released Uprising is apparently so damn touchy that every single unrelated program running in the background may cause it to crash.

As the others said, though, your best bet overall might be to get the GOG releases, download the stand-alone installers and put them on a disc or USB stick. The ability to do something like that is one of the intentions behind GOG's DRM-free policy.

So why don't you want the digital (non-CD) versions? Having issues downloading them, very slow internet or monthly caps on downloads?

Who would you expect to have done the adaptation? I'm not aware of any 'physical' publishers that do what GOG does.

Oh, Hypercard!? I want that!

If I remember correctly, Myst was originally built in Hypercard (and thus had to be rewritten from scratch for Windows, rather than simply adapted, as Windows didn't have a way of running Hypercard stacks).

You're absolutely right!
I wasn't aware of that, I don't think I know a single person with Mac back then : )
and I am sorry for the late reply..

My first computer was a Macintosh Performa 475. I got it in '94, it was underpowered even when introduced in '92 (25 MHz 68LC040 without an FPU - granted, the Performas were always budget machines), and it was my only computer until '99 when I built a 550MHz AMD Athlon machine. The Athlon box is long since scrapped but the Performa still runs (though upgraded to a 4GB HDD, 36MB RAM, and an AAUI ethernet card compared to the 150MB, 4MB, and only Appletalk networking it had originally).
