darthspudius: I take it has no relevance to a pc user?

Trid: Yea, only Wii U/3DS users.
Got it. :)

I think I found the Monty Python fan :)
Customer loyalty? I gave the original NES five years of my life! :P I think the least they could do is give me a personal shout out. :P
Sucks for me. I use the brazilian eshop on 3DS, but they don't have one on Wii U, so there I have to use a different canadian account to make eshop purchases. I wonder if I'll ever get enough points to get anything good, with my purchases split between two accounts like that.

To be honest... I doubt you'd get enough points to get anything good even if the accounts were linked.. I used to buy quite a lot of Nintendo games and hardly accrued any points in the old catalogue.. the rewards may be (somewhat) better this time around but I doubt you will get them any quicker...

I still hope that they will put there some virtual console games with reasonable coin prices...
I'm not fan of buying "same games" for the new system but if it was a "bonus" I would be happy.

I actually got the platinum elite status last year. Granted, I did buy the Wii U, and some games to go with it, but it did earn me two retail games out of it. So I'm inclined to hope for the best.

Considering I do still have quite a few games in my sights both in the 3DS and Wii U, put together I could've gotten something good, I think. Now I'll just get two "meh" things instead.

There are a couple there (Warioware Touched and Super Mario Land 2 are the ones I remembered seeing) but nothing spectacular. If they just gave you access to the whole Virtual Console catalogue (to buy from with coins) that would be pretty awesome.
Is it DRM-free?

Well, for 3DS there are only this two, that's way you remember only this two. :P
Agree about whole catalogue but I'm sure it will never happen.

Cyraxpt: Meh? My Nintendo Picross - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess looks interesting but i don't know when i am ever going to make 1000 platinum points, the 300 platinum points for the 20% of TLOZ: ALBT would put the game at 18€ so i might buy it, even with the awful artstyle but on the other hand i still have Fire Emblem Awakening + RE Revelations + SMT 4 + Ace Attorney Trilogy + Ace Attorney DD to play and i haven't been paying attention to my 3DS in the last months...

I find it funny how Super Mario 3D Land is a game that was released in 2011 and nowadays stills costs 45€. But hey, you can get 40% off (making it to a more acceptable, not good or great, acceptable price of 27€) with My Nintendo scheme? How? Well, you need 110 gold points in order to get that "amazing" 40% discount, just spend at least 80€ on the eshop and voilá.

Seriously, more pathetic than "discounts" behind subscritions (looking at you PS+ and XBL Gold) is having this "promotions" from Nintendo but whatever, not a fan of the company so i don't see myself buying anything from them in the future.
well, keep in mind that if I I understand this correctly, you would redeem 240 free platinum points a month from repeatable tasks just by opening up the eshop and miiverse once a week and not doing anything. This isn't counting the daily app related bs chump change, or the free coins you get occasionally get by clicking on the coins that occasionally appear on the page

I think that they're overcomplicating things a bit as I thought that one currency mainly for the in app stuff and one outside would be enough, and I thought that the platinum point discounts seem a bit too small for what they cost but I guess they were trying to control inflation due to giving out so many free points.

well, you'd probably easily get enough platinum points for one of the 1000 platinum point rewards in six months (before they expire, though I get the impression that the reward codes are region locked since it lists your region when you click on the reward and you can only redeem a reward once. Probably to keep people from trading/selling rewards like the old club nintendo.

True, but it's still about how much you can get from the app.
Also, does the coins expiring like the stars were.

the old club nintendo coins expired after two years IIRC.

The new my nintendo coins expire after six months. Well, I think it actually says the last day of the month that's six months after the coins are earned so there's a little leeway.
Ah, with all the fanfare of a loose brick falling off a particularly dilapidated building did this launch. I've barely heard half a buzz about this, and the delay of Miitomo's global launch isn't helping.

As an aside, the fact that Miitomo has square wheels in terms of longevity isn't exactly helping either. Novel, but stupid.

Edit: Wow. That commercial is awful.

Well, six months (somehow missed that info) for me means that I will never be able to get enough gold coins for anything... :) I mean... six months, rly nintendo?

The old one were valid for 3 years.
