GOG really needs to get some new games out, cure the boredom around here.

i hear you.
i tried the indie dev scene but meeting artists that share your vision is hard.

And what vision is that exactly?

I imagine it's like looking into a revolving kaleidoscope. Erratic, enigmatic, and idiosyncratic.

Indeed.
Think Timothy Leary ca Woodstock 1969: "Turn on, Tune In, Drop Out!"

I have a large number of games and am still bored. Weird ain't it?

Nope, not weird. I have a huge backlog of games I have yet to play. But I'm more interested in older games, and am waiting to see if GOG ever releases any of them from the dream list. I used to be big into first person shooters, but find I'm more into click adventure games these days. Especially the old FMV games of the 90's.

I play solitaire or mahjong more these days than anything else. I guess after more than two decades, I'm not the gamer I used to be.

I have been trying to break the boredom by delving into my backlog. I will sometimes find a game I am really into and stick with it for days if not longer. It's like that one meme with the old guy finally going outside into the sunlight.

Just finished a couple of those several months back. Quite fun albeit somewhat short.

Ever play any modern retro games? Some (from indie devs) are surprisingly decent.

Which ones? I'm pining for the X-Files Game to get released, along with Star Trek: Borg.

No. Never really was into indie games, except Battlecruiser 3000AD way back when. Mostly just 90's games. That's why I'm perfectly happy with the computers I have. I don't need the latest and greatest to play my old favorites.

I was mildly interested in Robocop Rogue City because it appears to be very faithful to the movies. Still might pick it up some time, but otherwise, new games don't capture my interest. What kind of "modern retro" games do you suggest? I might have a look.

By indie games I meant modern old school FPS games and others made by small teams, similar to how games were made in the 90s. Some of em are near the same level of quality as stuff back then. Here's a few you might like.

Zany 90s style FPS

If you're into Doom 3, Retchid here on gog is pretty decent. Keep in mind that it's still in early access tho.
There is also Hands of Necromancy if one likes Heretic and Hexen.

Both Hands of Necromancy games are good. There's also Rekkr which looks and plays like Hexen.
