heartburnron: Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth - played this for the first time also this year and love, love, loved it! BUT... that bloody bug on the ship with the cannon!! Does anyone know of a fix to get past it? I heard of you get a save file from someone who is past the part it can work?

Rievier: 4. doccarnby already posted the patch, so there's no need to do it again.
You just need to download it, extract it and then find the executable ( you can follow the instructions on the page you downloaded it if you don't know how to)
Thanks, seems I was reading the patch notes wrong as I've just tried it and it does indeed work for the Steam version and I've now moved on in the game! Happy days! However, I've now encountered a new problem - the splash screens when the games is loading, cut scenes and menus including the inventory you need to pull up to heal keep freezing - they freeze for around 5 seconds and only release for less then a second making it very difficult to use the inventory. I tried restoring the original files to remove the patch but the same thing is happening so I'm not sure it's directly related to the patch. I've seen similar issuss happen in games related to drivers - The Evil Within for example behaves this was with the AMD Relive drivers although it also affects the gameplay where as with Call of Cthulu the gameplay itself is perfect. I'm still on drivers 16.11.2 though and I'm sure I havent changed the drivers since I was originally playing the game in March. Any ideas as to what could be causing it?...

1. Condemned: Criminal Origins
Not only is it creepy, it has plenty of gameplay elements as well.

2. Penumbra: Overture

3. Penumbra: Black Plague

4. Penumbra: Requiem

They have a really nice mix of puzzles and stealth, cool storyline and concept as well.

5. Lucius
More on the gory fun side of things.

Yes playing througt that just not - its so good. I actually corrupted my playthrough by launching it from both Galaxy (wth the unofficial patch) and Steam (withouth the patch). After returning to the beach from exploring the ship, the stairs leading back up to the main street were blocked - just a solid wall! Had to restart it all over again which should have been more annoying that it was - it's just such a cool game.

heartburnron: I don't have either although I remember reading about a streaming service for PC that allowed you to play PS3 games, what was that? I wonder if you can pay that month on month and cancel whenever - that may be a cheaper solution to getting to play the silent hill games...
Playstation Now. It has a 7-day trial to get a feel for it (but it requires that you input your credit card info to get it).

Thanks for that. Had a look and it's only the Silent Hill HD collection that's available - I heard it's pretty pants - not sure how playable these are? Quite expensive though at $19.99 per month...

If I remember right, I think you need to open your graphic card settings and force high OpenGL settings. I had Vsync On, antialiasing 8X Multisampling, Triplebuffering, etc.

Here's a site that explains how to do it if you don't know.

Thaks for that - I had a play around but it hasn't made any difference. No matter - I can still play the game it's just a pain in the ass when I need to use the inventory..
Also play the STALKER games, especially the first one.
Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut. ;)

Please bear in mind that certain side quests are only available during specific chapters of the game.

Furthermore, stay glued to the screen during (and after) the end credits for something extra (and essential)... :)
In case you miss it, you'll have to replay a rather large part of the finale in order to watch the entire thing (if I recall correctly, that is).

Thanks for the tip! I actually decided to play Cry of Fear in the end - the one horror game I've had the longest but forgot about. Deadly Premonition is high up on the list of next ones to try though...
I would recommend Condemned: Criminal Origins after you finish Cry of Fear.
