CuloLoco: Uplay the Steam-GOG killer
:))))))) :D lmfao
Reading your vision was nice. It's good to dream once in a while, even though those dreams will never be a reality.

You think gog can "demolish steam".

In your dreams.

Unless gog gets access to hundreds of triple A titles like steam does, steam will remain a monopoly in gaming market.

Pretty much every triple A title publisher prefers DRM over no DRM. So their games will end up on steam.

gog.com doesn't want to be a Steam competitor?

sure could've fooled me.
Without AAA titles, it's never gonna happen.

so they have a client, don't resell Steam keys, lose games rights contracts to Valve...

yeah. not competing at all!

I think it's more a case of "we like Valve. we use Steam. we care about them. but yes we are competing with them to a degree that I will refrain from articulating but wish to stress is probably very minor and unthreatening. unthreatening."

why? rep is pointless... and now I think the only reason you made this thread is to get quick rep. I am more likely to down-vote and mark as spam.

xSinghx: It's a great dream, but a dream all the same.

I am obviously no fan of Steam and want to see GoG succeed as much as possible against them but the fact is quarterly Steam sales are enough to keep the vast majority of users from acknowledging the cage and nonexistent customer support that comes with Steam's low prices.

The thing mid range AAA developers who can't fund their own platforms like EA or Ubisoft have to realize is they are simply leaving money on the table when it comes to DRM. After buying Far-Cry 3 and not seeing the hidden tag for Uplay on Steam and being unable to get a refund, I simply will never buy another Ubisoft product again. Period. Games are cracked the first week they come out. Developers are wasting their own time and money to deliver an inferior product meanwhile ensuring interested paying customers will not buy their DRM infested product.

I hope GoG can make the case for the financial rewards awaiting those that leave DRM behind and bring more developers into their catalog. I myself have re-bought games (I already own) here simply so I don't have to run them through Steam.

nes400: most gamers even on here have a steam account..
but with the Galaxy around corner many will jump the bandwagon to GOG
As much as that would be nice - it's a long way from happening without AAA developers selling through GoG.
