sharonbn: Since the majority of requests for gifts come from known scammers or suspected scammers, I decided to cease gifting activities for a while.
On one hand, I appriciate and support the effort of legitimate members in exposing scammers. I understand this is done to maintain the original idea of giveaways and to for the sake of maintaining this community as friendly social place. I do not want to undermine the effort by encouraging scammers.
However, without any easy manner to identify scammers, it has become too time consuming for me to try to do the filtering and also I do not feel comfortable judging other people motives and behavior.
All I wanted was to spread a little hapiness and get rid of some unused steam keys. The last thing I wanted was to get mixed up in an ugly war. I have enough of this in the real life.
Perhaps the gifting will recommence sometime in the future.
I'm really sorry you had to deal with this. Your generosity, I assure you, is GREATLY appreciated by the community, and I can personally say that I've been enjoying the games. The scammers just bring everybody down.
A suggestion: Try holding a competition or game of some sort in order to receive your game, rather than just getting people to ask you for it. The LAST thing a scammer wants is to do any work. You can see examples in these links:

Alternatively, if you don't wanna do the work yourself, you could do something akin to Doc0075's trust giveaways.
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/yet_another_trust_giveaway/page1 You could also give the keys to some already-organized giveaway. Just show up at the place, and either PM the host or make a post listing the keys you want to donate to the prize pool. Austrobogulator donated a Toonstruck key for my first Puzzlemaster's Court game, and Pimpmonkey has donated several keys to go to the next Puzzlemaster's Mystery game I make. The Community Giveaway, currently hosted by Moonshineshadow, as well as The Bizarre Bazookery of something-or-other, hosted by Sachys and Foxworks, are some of the longest-running ones which are basically giant pools of games (GOG keys only, though).
If you're interested in my giveaways/trust me/feel lazy/whatever, you can keep track of my planned competitions and whatnot over here:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_puzzlemaster But of course, that's just me and my shameless self-promotion. There are plenty other fine giveaways and nice people who'll make sure your games go to good homes.
