I made this post in the game forum but . .hoped there would be a better chance of a translation from this forum.

I have made an attempt to restore the Albion game manual (English). I could not read the Foreword on page 4 or the warnings on page 11 and page 13 of the original English manual so it's missing from this file.

If someone is willing to translate and post the text from the German manual I will add it to this file and repost a link.

I'll attach an image of the text I believe to be missing if someone wants to translate to English?

Nice project. I´m not very good in translating things accurately, but here is the part, that I can decipher:

"Nobody likes to read long forewords, especially when they express opinions that the players should form themselves.
However we hope that this foreword will help you play Albion by telling you what we had in mind when we designed the game.

Albion is a role-playing game. As such it contains many battles and puzzles in dark mysterious dungeons and relies upon the ----ful development of your initially weak characters."

EDIT: The missing word could be "FAITHful". In the German text they use the word "liebevoll" that means "caring" or "lovingly", but both of them don´t fit here.

I´m working on the rest.

I don't even like Albion...but just wanted to say CONGRATS on an outstanding job!! It looks great and totally "real"! Kudos!

Hmmm, I could try to use Google Translate to get a rough translation, and then re-write it as appropriate.

Found other black & white copies of the manual, all seem to be of the same scan and of little help. Tho the 11 & 13 page warnings are somewhat readable, be easier if i had PSP installed...

I must say, that´s some overblown German, they used in the manual.

Here the second paragraph:

"What fades into the background in today´s role-playing games in favor of easily understandable action, is very
pronounced in Albion: The game tells a story, advanced through your actions as player."

Third paragraph:

"Another aspect that distinguishes Albion from most other role-playing games is the fact that we tried to depict the cultures, you will find in the game, as lively as possible. You can talk to a plethora of people, but not all of the information you receive has to do with your actual quest. You can consult a lot of people about particulars of their culture, without benefiting from it. Thus you do not need to remember or write down every sentence of every conversation. If you want to know what we have imagined when we created the game´s world and its cultures, you can ask about it in conversations. But you also can purely concentrate on the information, that will let you advance in the game."

Please add commas according to English grammar rules. That´s out of my scope :)

I agree. Though the only needed change that really is needed would be "But you also can" to "But you can also", and removing a couple commas to stay as close to the original text (you provided) as possible. I mean, it's still readable either way.

It's not like all your base are belong to us level of translation issues :P

I'm guessing the word they were going for was "careful." Though why "liebevoll" was used instead of "sorgfältig" or "gründlich" is beyond me.
