2013 was when the GOG community was at its golden age.
Ahhh, good times.

It's true. Everyone was chill and you could talk about some controversial topics with different views presented. But then, things happened, dark things. Everyone got polarised and reacted super sensitive to every topic. The most mundane threads escalated into constantl moanings for mass bans.
Back in the day, man, back in the day...

I remember all these things, too. Except Re-Volt. I'll have to look that up now.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I do like this place.

basically the modding community came in and shit their pants as hard as possible and it got all over the forums everywhere.

it was one of the modding communities where it's run like a cult and fuckers were worried about losing status in their shitty little circus. the forums were really toxic during that.

What a nice trip down to memory lane :)

Woha, when GOG started I had still one hair color. Dang grey streaks.

What? How dare you? HOW... DARE ... YOU?!!!

*cough*

No, you're right. At some point around that time something really shitty happened. I could not say what but in a rather short time it went from we to us vs them vs everybody.

Very nice :-)
OOh I just realized I joined Sept 23 2008, so my anniversary is coming up too. My first order was two days later because who could resist? (Freespace)

Oct 10 2008 was when I got TOCA Race Driver 3. I still keep the avatar to this day. Almost a year later (after a few other games) I got Colin McRae Rally 2005. Glad I snagged these two, because they got pulled and are no longer available.
Thanks for sharing your great story, and happy anniversary.

Gratz on the GOG-ersary!
I joined GOG when they did the Fallout freebie (I didn't even heard about them before) and then just stuck around.
This thread made me lookup the gog mix of games that once available for free. Apart from the Fallout series, my other regret was for Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf. Play that with friends years back and that game was not discounted the last 3 gog sales.

Nice reading, I'm sad I haven't been there in the good old days, but hopefully more memorable moments await us!

Regrettable indeed. Maybe you should check your chat then.

Sometimes we see glimpses of the great community there used to exist here... like I just did now.
