Hello Hello Grand Ol Games
With summer time comes great tradition in the land of old school gaming, and there is no longer annual tradition than the Myth World Cup! Created in 1997 by Chris Butcher, based on clans called "orders", team of at least 4 players would come together and play against other teams on the field of Myth Battle. Many years of MWC's have taken place, the most recent 2015. The only year there was no MWC was following the loss of Bungie.net's rights to the Myth franchise in 2002. Come join the Myth Fans in their journey for glory against the Dark, gather your friends and compete this summer!
Thank you and best regards,
Par73, Myth World Cup 2016 Tournament Organizer

Uh? Is it fake?
I thought that some fans still created tournaments for that game.
I don't get the meaning of this thread, then.. O_o

MWC = Mario Wrestling Championship?
The announcement I posted was not fake. Sometimes it's best to build suspense!

The Myth World Cup is an annual summer tournament, first hosted in the year 1998. MWC98 was a single elimination tournament playing Myth: The Fallen Lords and took place on bungie-net. Myth 2 was released on December 28th in 1998, a botched released which cost Bungie over a million dollars and lead to their future buy out by Microsoft.

Myth World Cup 1999 was played on Myth 2: Soulblighter and changed to double elimination format, featured 96 teams with a player minimum of 4, in game maximum of 7 and roster maximum of 16. It featured a Finals rematch of two competitive teams which ended after 8 games of sudden death following the initial 7 to push the match into a true Myth Marathon.

Really, the rest is history. Aside from 2002, the same year bungie.net would no longer support the Myth II metaserver, the Myth World Cup has continued to be the annual event held in the mid year where fans of the game celebrate the opportunity to play the game online and together.

Unfortunately, Myth TFL and Myth Soulblighter are not supported by GOG.com at this time. Maybe one day they will be in contact with current publisher and rights holder, Take2 Interactive, and the game will be able to be supported through GOG.com. As for now a website known as gateofstorms-net hosts the current Myth 2 Webserver and the game is supported and developed by ProjectMagma-net . You can find a demo version of the game at getmyth-com

A website for this year's tournament is at mwc16-mythgen-com, and aside from the annual 4-7 v 4-7 team tournament that will take place, there is also contests for "in-game" achievements and a 500$ first place prize for the winning player or group of The Gauntlet, a Team Free For All side-tournament to this years MWC.

Anyone who's looking to play an old school strategy game that requires zero base building and throws you right into the action with your units, needs to look no further once they have discovered Myth/Myth 2.

Sorry I cannot post proper links at this time or I would have been able to provide more relevant info to those interested sooner. Thank you all, most notably GOG.com for hosting and supporting relics of yesterday's gaming history !
