I was looking for a good hack'n slash title for playing with the wife. I like Torchlight a lot and is pretty much the kind of game we are looking for, with lots of hacking and slashing and leveling and monsters and equipment and... well you get the point. The problem is Torchlight is single player only, so the question is, anyone has any good recommendations on the subject?

I'd very much prefer games available here on GOG; fantasy theme not mandatory, but it would be a plus.

Bear in mind we are looking for an Action RPG. We like rpgs a lot, we have already many of them and we are right now in the middle of a Baldur's Gate campaign, but we want a more casual title for mindless fun once in a while.

Thanks.

GOG:
Sacred 2
Victor Vran
Van Helsing 1+2+3
Probably wait until we get the Final Cut that combines all 3 games into one.

Not GOG:
Diablo 2
Titan Quest

Probably forgetting a few.
I can't quite remember wasn't Torchlight 2 multiplayer?
^seems like it is.

Path of Exile
free (have to make an account on their site to download and login-play the game), can't buy power, online.

Torchlight II is multiplayer & I would suggest it wholeheartedly, especially in light of the fact that the original poster said that he liked Torchlight.

Did you check Torchlight 2?

This isn't on GOG, but should be exactly what you want, aren't it?

Only if your planning on living a very long time...

Oh, and doesn't Grim Dawn have some sort of multiplayer (sorry I only play single player).

Probably?
I've never played any ARPG's multiplayer.
I don't really have any friends that like them.

It would be better not to give the VH devs money until they actually release it here though. >_<

Path of the Exile may be good if you're into MMO stuff. Its free on the staem so you can try it out.
Thanks all for your answers. Torchlight 2 would be the perfect choice indeed, I hope we see it soon here. In the meantime, will check your other suggestions.

Thanks again.

Don't count on Torchlight 2 getting here.

Grim Dawn is the only game here that fits what your looking for outside of Torchlight 2, could look into Sacred or Sacred 2. I've heard Divinity: Original Sin is very fun multiplayer.

For outside of GOG.com then check out Dungeon Seige 2 with the expansion pack (hard to find but worth it)

I would also recommend Path of Exile, its a free to play and does scale with difficulty and having a team should really help make it a challenge and fun. Its quite possibly the most in-depth ARPG out there now pertaining to class leveling.

If you have the cash sink Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls is fantastic as a 2 player game and has multiple hundreds of hours of content. that said Diablo 2 with Lord of Destruiction is a cheaper amazing alternative. That I have played longer than any other game mentioned, with Titans Quest coming in 3rd.

Still yet a longer game with even more content is Titans Quest with immortal Throne... TQ:IT is by far the longest most rewarding game i have even co-oped in my life. So many class combinations and so much fun in this game, it combines all the best features of ARPG's that came before it.

Every title i mentioned (except original sin) i have played to completion with my wife. We almost always go back to Titans Quest or Diablo 2... Currently we are having fun in Grim Dawn.

Totally agree, OP question is even weird.

There's a quality of action that very few Diablo like succeed match, Diablo 2 is definitely the standard but it grew pretty old with a tedious inventory management, very old graphics, pointlessly painful controls with two click (select and use), ootdoor areas with a weak design, some more. Torchlight 2 fix them all (TL1 alredy fixed most of them) and only suffer of an excessive speed increase moving the gameplay from reaction dodging more to anticipation dodging, the second design approach is much less deep. TL1 hadn't this weakness overall but is overall far to be at TL2 quality.

It's not Titan Quest, Sacred 2, Van Helsing, Path of Exile, that join this club. Eventually Diablo 3 doesn't worth all the hate it gets and half join the club but not fully by moving most of character building to building through drops/equipment.

Victor Vran and I would add Dungeon Siege 3 are a different affair, both have a coop play so qualify OP request, but it's not matching the Diablo like design. Both really need be played with a gamepad and both have a design of combats and action rather different than Diablo like, still both match well an ARPG tag. And in my opinion both are pretty good.

I would advise more DS3 if you want follow a story, and more Victor Vran if you want discover a different action approach with a bit more sophistication and tricks than in DS3.

Both are very far to a quality of TL2, but in my opinion both worth it and should be a fun coop experience.

Victor Vran needs to be played with a gamepad?
It felt really weird when using a gamepad, M+K all the way.

Ok just my opinion, for DS3 too some players find M+K fine.
