sunshinecorp: Visit a doctor about that narcolepsy.

pimpmonkey2382.313: I did, he prescribed changing the channel. :P
I said a doctor, not a quack.

drewpants: I wouldn't call this the latest trend - more a continuation of a long, long running theme.

I was never a fan of The Warriors anyway, but I guess that given the film total lack of a meaningful plot it should be easy enough to make an episodic story about the lives of these hip young punks. Let's hope they can come up with more depth than 'dicks who get into fights'.
It wasn't just "dicks who get into fights". The Warriors was supposed to be a modern retelling of Anabasis.

Warriors...COME OUT TO PLAAAY!

I wouldn't call him a quack, the narcolepsy cleared up almost instantaneously. :P

pimpmonkey2382.313: I didn't think the buffy movie or the series were good. Friend used to watch the series all the time when I'd visit I'd damn near fall asleep in the chair.
Thing with a series like Buffy is that 1) has way too many running jokes, so you can't just tune in and enjoy, you have to actually follow it 2) has way too many cultural references / spoofs, so again you need to be able to keep up with that to enjoy.

Well, it couldn't keep me invested to do number 1. I could keep up with 2, but I didn't really care to. The show just wasn't my thing I guess.

^This. My initial reaction to the show was similar to pimp's. I only ever got glimpses while my sister-in-law watched. Then I got the first season as a birthday present and finished it in one go. I was completely hooked. Now it's one of my favorite tv series of all time.

If you haven't done so already, I heartily recommend reading the ongoing comic book continuation of both Buffy and Angel.

I really need to catch up there. I stopped reading Buffy somewhere in season 9. And Angel.... I think I got lost in some of the specials (I think there was an Ilyria one-shot that threw me for a loop.). I considered picking up the Humble Bundle a while back, but with the exception of 2 comics in the highest tier I already owned all of them in paperback, so I didn't.

I know that, but the film seemed to take the key plot elements of what happened and none of the lessons about Socratic philosophy or leadership. All of the characters came across as moral thugs and nothing else.

In my most humble opinion anyways... :-/
Another conversion: F/X

Tthe show was interesting. Carrie-Ann Moss was awesome in it for sure.
