Dorkness over 9000.

The Gamers, a 5-part comedic fantasy series firmly based in the nerdiest corners of the role-playing games fandom, is available up to 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $15.15 for the whole collection: Humans & Households, Hands of Fate, Dorkness Rising, Natural One, and the one that started it all, The Gamers (Director’s Cut), for the first four days.

One late night in a college dorm, four socially inept geeks immerse themselves in a fantasy world of their own creation. As their characters journey through forbidden kingdoms, ancient ruins, and the forsaken wilderness, the players attempt to solve a mysterious puzzle that could ultimately mean the difference between getting a life and death. Who is The Shadow? Where is The Princess hidden? Will any of them ever find a date? And how long do they have before their annoyed neighbors call the cops? So many questions, and that's only the first of the many adventures that lie ahead of our the bold party of heroes!

Get the whole series of The Gamers movies on GOG.com and save 60%, or get 40% discount on movies purchased separately. The special launch discount offer lasts until Tuesday, October 7, at 2:29PM GMT.

jadeite: Don't you have friends to watch the movies with? My PnP group likes watching movies together, so the Gamer movies (as well as Dark Dungeons) are a good investment.
If you haven't watched Astrópía with your group yet, try to get your hands on a copy and do it! I have watched it two times so far and it was very well received with all my PnP gamer friends.

I'll also most likely watch the Gamer movies several times with several people, so my millage per second might vary to that of others.

I bought the full series, and then noticed that I have paid so little attention to movies in gog.com that I don't truly know if movies are also drm free or not.
Well, the gamers was worth it anyway...

All of it is DRM-free.
I have found several problems in the films. For example in humans & households, subtitles for episode 1 and 3 are swapped, you can simply change the name of the archive once downloaded, but take that into account.
Also, the 1080p version of hands of fate always crashes for me around 1:44:20, at least if I download it. I can watch it fine via stream or in computer, but any multimedia tv I have tried crashes the film around that time.
Also, the subtitles int he first film tend to get out of synch both on stream and downloaded, around half the movie.
They are quite enjoyable still, but perhpaps can anyone take a look?

Well than, it seems like you've really enjoyed the series :P
I'm only on the second one and I noticed that one (Dorkness Rising) doesn't have any English subtitles which I would appreciate having. The sync issues, just for the Spanish subs or also the English ones?
Because I don't remember seeing sync issues in the English subs when I watched it.

Well, It was in the english ones. I hate to see a movie in one language having the subtitles in another.
the sync issue is only of about a second or so. Are you sure you didn't saw anything?
Perhaps is a thing of my download, but I was prettyy sure it happened also in the stream...I' watch the first one again to check...
I just warched it aorund 31:30 and the subtitles are a bit sooner that they should...they were displayed before the character spoke.

Can't tell you about the subs because I didn't use any but the 1080p version of Hands of Fate (downloaded) works fine for me, no glitch. Which player are you using? Try VLC.

You are indeed correct, I guess since I was fast forwarding a lot I didn't catch it. It's just a scootch early.
I also checked Hands of Fate BTW and that seems to work fine (MPC-HC and XBMC), but there might a dropped bit in there somewhere that the software skips but the multimedia TV doesn't or perhaps something to do with the codecs.
You could try re-encoding it using something like Handbrake, that usually fixes glitches like that.
Ok, it seems like this is the order?

The Gamers: Director's Cut
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising
The Gamers: Hands of Fate
The Gamers: Humans and Households
The Gamers: Natural One

Is that correct?

I think that's the order they came out, yes... However the last two (Humans and Households, Natural One) aren't directly connected with the main plot of the previous three and are more just spinoffs, and self contained little stories... I think. I haven't watched Natural One yet to completion, but H&H was more a geeky view of the stupidities of not only how D&D is played, but rather how stupid things are since things should be obvious, especially for the characters.

Wait a minute... Aren't we Americans too? *pulls out two handguns*
It's funny... began re-watching Dorkness Rising (Because watching spoony makes me want to play D&D and since there's no group may as well watch the movie) and I'm noticing a lot of little details I never noticed before. The writing on the white-boards, when they are playing time felons and the dice rolling how it turned out... the music that played in the background :P

Then there's other details I never noticed, that at the campfire how extra dark things were around certain parts of the scene, like the fighter (and the off-stage hand giving the bard the Que card for his bardic knowledge) the odd replacement of where the characters were sitting...

edit: that's funny, I didn't notice I was the last one to post here :P

was the series removed? I don't have access to them anymore.

Teeshka: was the series removed? I don't have access to them anymore.
They were removed because of offense at a tweet GoG made a while back (this despite the Gamers series doing similar offenses). You should still have the movies in your account if you purchased them previously though. Might want to contact support about it.

Offensive tweets? More like there's groups finding any reason to be offended (usually being offended for another group though the other group didn't care in the first place, but still pushes the censorship forward). And unless GoG did something like call for the death of jews or something, i doubt it would have mattered.

And yes it seems it's still in my library.
