DRM-free movie release.

Us and the Game Industry, a documentary focusing on the very modern craft of virtual world creation and the people pursuing it, is available 40% off, DRM-Free on GOG.com. That's $5.99 for the first week.

Experience recent designs for computer games in the 21st Century. The traditional industry had been making a rolling set of waves in the commercial space. This film draws in close to a smaller and significant set of explorations into interactive experience. The developer, thatgamecompany, is watched during it’s build of JOURNEY(2012). Other adventurers are the independents Jason Rohrer, Alexander Bruce, Douglas Wilson( Die Gute Fabrik) and Zach Gage. The developers, their peers and the world of support structures for these expose the magic explored in a number of games. Interviews occur in San Francisco, New York, Davis, Austin and Copenhagen. Ready? Let's talk about Us and the Game Industry.

If you like to take a peek behind the curtain to see how the magic happens and maybe even meet the magician and see what do they consider to be magic, make sure to grab Us and the Game Industry DRM-free on GOG.com. The 40% off special launch discount promo lasts until Tuesday, September 9, at 11:59AM GMT.

Definitely sounds interesting! Will probably grab it eventually. It's also nice that some really great names are involved (such as thatgamecompany and Jason Rohrer).

Well it looks an ok movie, maybe will buy it in a sale sometime later.

Im waiting for some real movies that are on the movies wishlists.
Seems like 95% of the GOG 'movies' are documentaries about the gaming scene. You should probably get at least one good 'real' movie if you want this venture to succeed.

They explained it in the announcement thread concerning movies. They are perfectly aware of this but they have to start with something, despite their best intentions to move on to TV shows and feature films.

They're still in their early stages, so let's not rush things.

For instance, I bought Indie Game the Movie, and the bonus content included commentary tracks. Sadly those tracks aren't muxed in with the file, so less techy consumers probably can't even figure out how to play the tracks with the movie itself. I'd rather download a file that's 100mb larger where you can just right click and select a new audio track rather than being given that track as a separate download.

Point being; there's still things to figure out, so it's best to start fairly small.
Instead of game related documentaries, try getting some game related movies and shows. Look into Fallout Nuka Break and The Guild. The team behind Fallout Nuka Break is now working on a Legend of Grimrock series. Maybe you could approach them to host their Kickstarter release.

Wait, why am I offering other suggestions when the main one still needs to be addressed? Dump this copy cat site and restore the genuine GOG site. Then we'll talk movie purchases.
Ok, I guess.. but I'm usually not that interested in documentaries.
I'll patiently wait for better titles (sigh), but the main difference with the game section is that GOG started with famous classic there, whilst began with unknown niche indies here. Fingers crossed.

Question: doesn't VLC automatically consider the extra audio if it's called like the movie file?
For subs it works, example:
Movie1.mkv
Movie1_sub_eng.srt
Movie1_sub_ita.srt

I like the idea, let's see what happens next.
These are the types of movies I would like to watch one day ... but for me, I don't need to own them. (maybe one day with a movie bundle super sale on GOG... hehe)
Looks good. So GOG will do movie gem promos too right?
LOL

Nice, topical choice of screencaps, GOG! :P

Like i have said in few other topics, that the AVGN : The Movie would attract movie people for GOG. So i'm hoping to see the movie on GOG as well :)

True. I think I could buy it, to support both GOG and James (even if I don't exactly expect a masterpiece lol).
