I really wish Running With Scissors would man up to their promises and bring the expansion pack here to GOG. They only promised it like what - 2 years ago. Maybe you could take a fresh pad of paper and make a TODO list on it, with one of the items being to go visit RWS HQ. Oh, and also make sure to get Gary Coleman's autograph too. :)

Apparently we are allegedly going to get it. The rough formula is:

1) Announce it formally with a release date
2) Have an employee with a pleasant demeanour log into the GOG forums for the series and tell everyone that they promise we will get the game as soon as they can do that.
3) Finish the game.
4) Release it on Steam
5) Do not release it on GOG
6) Patch bugs on Steam
7) Patch more bugs on Steam
8) Every time marked interest in it sparks up a discussion on GOG forums, log into the forum and tell everyone that you are still going to do it for GOG too but it will take a while because you're working on $somethingelse or improving the game for Steam players first.
9) Goto step 6
10) Never actually release the game on GOG but keep promising to do so and making excuses about being a small team, being busy working on something else, the person who was responsible dropped the ball, insert other favourite excuses here.

Then if it ever does make it to GOG:

1) Never patch the game, but keep promising to do so when time permits, which means either never, or 60 years from now.
2) Wait a year and comment in the forums again apologizing for the delay.


Pretty annoying.

In Dune 2 I suspected that the computer was cheating. So in one level I destroyed almost everything the enemy built, and sure enough, that damn turret kept firing. That felt so wrong to me...

As a young teen or maybe 12 I murdered all the towns folk of Britain in Ultima VII. It all started with killing the Queen in an attempt to get the key for the Bank. She ended up having it so I raided the bank and was rich! After buying everything I ever wanted I proceeded to kill everyone in town and line thier bodies in the street. The computer was in the living room and my dad walked by and said 'sometimes I wonder about you.'. lol, ah to be a kid.

I managed to get Dak Gurak's sword, in Blade of Darkness. Or shield. You can't salvage both, though... That shield is a cheat. Blocking with it, 90%+ of the times, you receive no damage, even if a giant Minotaur bashes you with stone hammer. You need right distance, if you are too close, you get hit. It also never breaks or looses durability. Aggressive blocking! Sword is useless, slow, clumsy and no character appears to handle it well.

No, because it took them out of the kitchen where they belong. Perhaps I should have hooked up the Playstation next to the microwave.

This reminds me of something I enjoyed doing in Ultima 6:

1. Learn Enchant and Armageddon, and be at least level 7.

2. Cast Enchant, and put Armageddon on the staff.

3. Give the staff to someone other than the Avatar.

4. Enter solo mode for that character, and then use the staff.

Congratulations! You just softlocked the game! Time will pass *very* quickly, but you won't be able to do anything. The only way out is to reboot (or to close the DOSBox window).

I was playing one of the Star Wars X-Wing series titles in the 90s although I forget which exact game it was. Anyhow, I was on a mission that I forget the details of, but there was a Star Destroyer in the mission and I had a bunch of wingmen. I don't remember what the winning goal was in the mission but I lost all of my wingmen and pretty much was not going to win the mission. The damn Star Destroyer took them all out.

So...

As stupid of an idea as it was, I decided that I was going to single-handedly take out the Star Destroyer myself. For anyone who has ever played any of these games, that is pretty much an almost impossible feat in an X-Wing fighter. Well, I was pretty good at the game and I spent a while taking out all of the tie fighters until they were dry. Then I started coming within range from the rear of the ship, as that blocked a lot of the incoming firepower from attacking me - then headed towards it dodging incoming fire until I was within range to start hitting their shields. I did wave after wave of evasive incoming attacks, and outgoing evasive maneuvers only making the slightest dent in their shields each pass, which mostly regenerated by the time I came back. I did this repeatedly for HOURS and slowly drained their shields. Next I would come in, bring the recovered shields back down, and aim torpedoes at the shield generators, then keep shooting lasers to keep the shields down. Once I ran out of torpedoes, I had to just use my lasers and get closer. Eventually I took out one generator, then had to go for the other one which I eventually took out.

At that point they had no force field any more, and I just came from the rear and targeted individual laser turrets one at a time on little one-kill missions until I had wiped all of the turrets out. They no longer had any weapons to attack me with, no force field, and I was now safe finally.

I took my X-Wing out to a hover spot within laser range but far enough away where I wouldn't get fragged in an explosion, then I pointed my lasers at the ship with quad-fire on, held the trigger down for quiet a while, then ended up using duct tape or something to hold it down and went and spent time making food or whatever else. Came back every now and then to check on progress, and eventually timed it to watch the final death.

I took out that damned Star Destroyer - on my own, with nothing more than a single X-Wing fighter. I don't remember how long it took but it was somewhere around 10+ hours if not 16 or more. It's been so long I forget those gory details, but holy shit - what a battle.

I dunno if anyone has ever done a video capture of that before, but it'd make for a really interesting albeit long Youtube video playthrough. :)

Not me, but someone on Reddit did something absurdly funny 8D

Earlier today I had a horrible realization: my gpu was dying. I was playing a game when I suddenly started noticing artifacts everywhere. My immediate reaction was to close the game, remove my overclock from my gpu, update drivers, and restart my pc before re-launching the game and seeing if the artifacting continued (it did). I also opened up msi afterburner to check if my gpu was overheating, which it wasn't. At this point, I was pretty sure that my gpu was dying, but I decided to try duplicating the results in other games. Here is where it got weird: I didn't get any artifacting in games other than the one I was originally playing (The Witcher 1, which is one of the least demanding games that I play). However, every time I played The Witcher I got these weird red artifacts all over my screen. Now most of you who have played the game probably know where this is going. I eventually just decided to keep playing for now, and deal with the problem tomorrow. At one point, I drank a potion that cleanses all toxicity from your system, only to see the artifacting stop. I wasn't experiencing artifacting at all, but rather a side effect of having too much in-game toxicity. Needless to say, I felt a little stupid afterwards.

tl;dr: Thought my gpu was dying, only to find out that the artifacts I was seeing were an in-game effect.
