Hanglyman: Infernal Machine had a few goofy moments too, but overall did a much better job of feeling like an Indiana Jones adventure.
With commies instead iof nazis !? No indiana jones movie would have that.

Certainly. Who would have expected that when we first heard about Disney taking over LucasFilm, especially followed by the closure of LucasArts?

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or unaware of the last film (which I admittedly haven't seen myself and probably am not going to).

Well, it's certainly not perfect, I'll admit that. But despite the Russians being the villains (sort of), the constant crashes and glitches, and a couple things that felt a bit far-fetched (like the snake boss that looked like a parade float) , I still enjoyed it a lot. Emperor's Tomb was fun for the first few levels, but the combination of constant suspension-of-disbelief breaking, uninteresting plot and characters, and fairly boring or frustrating levels (I hardly remember anything that wasn't Prague) made it a worse game in my opinion.

I am totally unaware of the last film, which doesn't even exist. (And yes, I have seen it, and I envy you.)

Seriously, while I love commie baddies in general (I love cold war thrillers), they really feel distractingly out of place in a mystical exotic pseudo-archeology indy context.

ALH: Dunno.Perhaps they want to take advantage of the Lucasfilm license(which is bound to expire eventually) as swiftly and efficiently as possible.
Hmm…I don’t think it’s that. You can release certain amount of games in a certain period of time in a more or less steady week-after-week flow or in big batches interspersed by time-gaps. GOG used to use first model and now it likes second-one more. I just wonder why.
avatar
timppu: In case you were not sarcastic: I thought one of the major complaints before from users was how GOG is dripping releases, and not releasing them in bigger batches? Now GOG is doing pretty much that, releasing many games at the same time (and they seem to have speeded up their releases otherwise too, we seem to get more releases per week now, indies included).

I'm fine as long as games keep coming.
No I wasn’t sarcastic. But I haven’t noticed complaints about dripping releases but rather about games being released to slow...I see GOG now stepped on a bit and releases more games than before (and that’s of course a good thing) but in the same time they follow this new pattern: YAY! – meh-meh-meh – WOW! – meh –meh-meh… From my perspective I enjoyed the way Tommo/Atari games were brought here. At that time for quite long period of time almost every release day was exciting for me.. But again – it’s just how I feel. All in all, this way or another, sooner or later – I’ll pick most of LA games :-D

Grargar: Probably to make those releases feel special and build hype till the next wave.
Yes I see your point but on the other hand there are other ways to keep & build hype. GOG marketing team used to be masters of that, remember?
avatar
Experiment513: For me it doesn't matter. They're insta-buy anyway! =)
I must admit I myself do more instabuys now than at the beginning of my GOG adventure but still a single purchase of 1-2 games & total cost of 10 EUR seems to be the line I don’t cross very often. Then I need 1 week to ‘recover’ and I’m ready to buy more…It may look weird but that’s how it goes for me & GOG. Releaseing 6 games in the same moment is a bit overkill to me and my wallet :-D

The marketing team once had TET. Emphasis on had.

..who, being skilled marketing guy, failed at at least one field: to train his successor on gog.com ;-P
In my opinion, the DISNEY/LUCASARTS game catalog is the BEST thing that happened in GOG.com since the birth of GOG itself.

Personally adventure games kinda feel like poking myself in the eye with a sharp object. But I'm happy you guys like them. :)

tfishell: Awesome! I assume we can give this guy some thanks for these releases - https://twitter.com/sethdavis :)

I hope things are still in motion to bring the "definitive" TIE Fighter and X-Wing games, and hopefully the original Monkey Island 1 & 2 (for those who want them separate from the remakes, and possibly with different languages).
Oh, and apparently the included version of LOOM isn't the best version.

I know I won't buy TIE or XWING until the 1995 cd versions are here. Not worth my time to aquire or buy them elsewhere.

Still like to buy them though, they're kind of interesting looking, and I've bought games here that interested me a lot less.

Very interested in Infernal Machine, it's one of the first games I ever played.

F1ach: Anyone remember which Indy game had you floating down a river in a rubber dingy applying patches to a leak as you travelled?
I'm interested in Infernal Machine as well. That game had a nice story. I got pretty far in it and then finished it on god mode.

Antimateria: does emperors tomb have a native widescreen support?
Might be a deal-breaker, but I always make a custom resolution for games in VGA drivers before trying to mod the resolution. unless the latter is really easy.

I always play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods in 16x10 on a 16x9 monitor with black bars on the sides.

It's easy to make a custom driver resolution. AMD with more than 1080p needs a registry tweak on windows though.

Yes and no. I am more happy to see games from Warner Bros catalogue and hope to see more games from Ubisoft etc. in the future.
